Road trip from AL to IL

It's that time again, I will be moving from Mobile AL to Wilmette IL in March. I am hoping to make a decent road trip out of it. Do any T4R members have any suggestions on places to stop on the way there?

In my opinion the best place to stop would be the end of your drive way. Sit for a minute, think it over, then drive back in the drive way and stay in mobile. I love the Chicago area to visit but I personally wouldn't want to live up there. (no offense if you're from there) Why are you moving?

Oh wow! From Gulf Shores to Lake Shores - talk about culture shock. And just before W I N T E R too. Hope you have good tires ('tars' in AL-speak).

You ever live in the upper-Midwest before?

Let's not feel too sorry for him - Wilmette is a very nice city, err town, err 'Village' as they call it.... and nicely upscale.

Can't offer too much, as I live on the other side of IL... but two things; 1) If you like seafood, find SHAW's Crab House in Schaumberg or downtown, and 2) try to time your drive-in from about Gary, IN to miss rush hour. This means mid-day or mid-night. That's a brutal section.

Oh, and Google Images "lake shore drive winter", welcome to IL.

I have brand new T/A KO's. And of course I love seafood!!!! I am from the Gulf Shores!!!! And I will be sure to google lake shore drive
