Road trip to NY

I will be going on a road trip to New York (wedding) on August 1st and i was wondering what are some good ways to get the most milage also there will be 5 people with me. This saturday i will be getting my first set Terra Grapplers, oil change, trans oil change and alignment. I got new plugs 2 weeks ago and took out the hydrocarbon filter. Anything else im missing?

Drive as slow as possible. Most of the MPG difference between cars is due to differences in aerodynamics. I can't remember the exact formula but drag increases 4 times for each 10mph or something like that.

With 5 people and probably a trunk full of gear on board you may want to increase tire pressure slightly. I run 35 - 38 psi all the time. (32 is recommended).

Use the cruise control. Accelerate gently then set it at the posted speed limit. Everyone will fly by you but one, you will get good gas mileage and two, you don't have to look for speed traps. If you do spot one, resist the urge to tap the brakes. Remember you set it at the posted limit.

Cruise control is your friend, if you set cruise at around 68 max, you'll be getting 20 mpg or more easy. I got 21 mpg in my V8 last summer cruising down the Garden State Parkway for 160 miles.

It's all about the engine RPM's. 2000 seems to be the sweet spot for gas mileage. Anything above that makes the MPG go down. So, yeah, 2000 RPM's should be somewhere around 70 MPH.

The sweet spot for gas engines is going to be different on each engine. It'll be inline with the engines Torque curve. 2000 rpms is kinda low for a 4-cylinder....especially one without overdrive or very high gearing.

Put in on the cruise control. Speed limit in Ohio on I80 is 70mph. Make sure you have enough fund on your Ipass, if not hope it is automatic fund transfer from any of your credit card. Toll fee in NY is really expensive, especially crossing the bridges. Went to NY a month ago. Also, if you are on I 80 on Ohio, make sure you stop on plazas only. Don't stop on any exits for restroom coz you will pay toll out and back to Ohio turnpike(I80). I averaged 18 to 19 mpg on 75mph. It was a nice road trip for me and my family. Drive safe bro. Have fun.
