I'm glad it was a breeze for you, but it did not ever come out to my satisfaction after meticulous prep. And scuffing the chrome with a scotch brite pad? Never going to happen. 600 grit barely made a mark.

Following up, I painted the new grill with VHT Epoxy Chassis Paint, satin black. It's the only thing I've used that has a decent, durable finish. I think it looks good:
