Rocky Road Super Sliders on 2014 KDSS TE

Finally got a couple of free hours away from the kiddos and wife today. These have been sitting on my work bench for the last 4 weeks just tormenting me to put them on. I think they turned out very nice. The fit is very snug.

looks great!! i was contemplating picking a set of these up for my 13 sr5. can you actually stand on them to, say, load stuff onto the roof if necessary.
reason being is that the wife has stated that she needs something to step onto to get into the truck...

i mean, can you imagine...she cant get in...and the ride is peaceful....

I have these sliders on my 2010 TE and they don't stick out far enough to really use as a step. Which is why I like them. Some people may say they don't offer enough protection off road, but in my experience they do offer good protection, and I like the tucked in look. OP, your Trail Edition looks great with the tires and sliders.

Thanks! Yes - they are not much of a step - but that's not what I wanted either. Basically just a toe hold to reach up to the roof. My daughter actually said it makes it harder to get into my truck. Oh well - guess all the kids and crayons will need to go in the wife's car

I think after shipping it was around $500. They bolt on - six bolts on each side. No drilling or welding. Installation was pretty straightforward. If you have KDSS, there is one extra step of adding a couple of spacers behind a few bolts on the driver's side. Passenger side took about 15 minutes and the driver's side took about an hour. If installing by yourself, you will definitely need some jack stands.

I see you have Duratracs also. Are they stock size? Did you notice and rubbing issues?

I have stock size along with a set of Ballistic Jesters on mine (+12 offset) and had to remove the front mud flap and trim the front lip on the leading inner edge of the fender/bumper (grabbed the lip when in reverse). :lookout:

Rocky Road Sliders Rusted!

I have the Rocky Road Super Sliders on my 2010 4Runner SR5 and I added 3/8" thick spacer plates where the sliders are mounted to the frame to extend the sliders out 3/8" and they work and look great. These sliders are well made but with 30,000 miles on my truck and 25,000 miles on the sliders, no off road or beach wheeling they are so rusted and corroded underneath (I mean really bad). The parts of the sliders that you see are not as bad but still show rust in many spots. For something that is powder-coated these look like they are 15 years old underneath with rusted metal flaking off. I'm not sure but these have only been on my truck for about 3 years and this amount of rust is far beyond what I expected. It looks like I'll have to remove them and use Por-15 on them to stop the rust.

Nice man! they look great. I'm pretty certain I'm going with Rocky Road sliders too. Did you order the ones for the "trail" model specifically? I'm trying to figure out if the rocker trim on my 15 SR5 is the same as the trim for the 14-15 trail? Does anyone know?
I know the 10-13 trail and SR5 rocker trims is different. I even emailed Rocky Road and they said they hadn't had a 14 or 15 SR5 in their shop yet to know either.

I have had my RR sliders on for a few years with about 50k miles on them in the northeast. Mine had powder coat flaking underneath also. I didn't think it was a big deal as they have been dragged over rocks and and have protected my vehicle very well. I went the por15 route but did it with removing them. I slopped it over the rust spots and it has held up well. It will flake off the powder coated areas.

Those look great! I have a 2018 TRD OR w/KDSS that I am looking for a tight set of sliders to put on. Did you have to mod anything (trim, fender, etc) to get them to fit?

I have 2012 TE w/ KDSS and only removed the little black plastic pieces on front and rear side.
