Just wondering what everyone's experience was with anyone these as far as using it on their rig, truck anything, Diff housing, fenders, under the t4r..

Im gonna paint the diff housing while they're out. The housing had a bunch of surface rust, which I'm wire wheeling off, i cleaned off all the dirt already. While the diffs are out coating in and around under there. Then thinking about doing the complete t4r. What do you guys recommend?

I've used herculiner before. Leaves a rough texture look, but fades in time. I've used spray can plastidip on certain car parts and motorcycle parts, looks good, lasted but you can peel it off not sure how would do on a n off road rig.

Keep in mind my t4r is far from perfect, body isn't horrible but the paint is faded, chipped and scratched..

with everything off your truck, should make it easy for some POR 15 - I have no personal experience with it but reviews on this forum are positive and it's apparently extremely durable.

I've never used anything but spray paint on my underbits, it's never lasted. Next time I drop an axle housing I'm going to try some of that self leveling epoxy paint they make for painting brake calipers.

So I looked up some reviews on different stuff.

I decided to go with plasti dip for the body and iron armor bed liner for the diffs and anything under the t4r.

Iron armor is the harbor freight brand. @$30 a gallon it was the most reasonably price one for what I wanted. It works great. Doesn't have any texture to it. It can be rolled, sprayed or brushed. My only regret is I should've sprayed it on. I'm gonna tear out all the interior carpet coat the inside via spray.

If I want it to last I brush it on, starting with some tremclad redoxide primer. It's brownish/burgundy so you know what you've covered, then follow with some tremclad paint brushed on. I like brushing it on so it's nice and thick. I've used the primer and spray on bed liner for the entire floor of my 4runner. Worked good, resists scratches of pulling in and out my tool boxes, trail boxes and bags etc...

To get a nice texture if the paint show the brush strokes I follow up with spray paint to get it nice and then touch up with spray.

Anything I've ever sprayed on, without a primer has never stayed on.

I've used POR 15 and a little goes a long way. A pint will be enough for frame rails and diff/rear axle. I just brush it on.

Just an FYI, it doesn't deal well with direct sunlight. As long as you keep it applied to areas underneath, you'll be fine.

Looks like you've already done her, but I can personally attest to POR-15's reliability. Yes, it's expensive, but worth it. A quart of it did the entire interior metal inside my 67 4door impala, as well as the frame from the firewall forward.

I'm pretty happy with the results. I've taken my t4r through water and desert a bunch of times and it hasn't affected the iron armor. I hose off all the dry mud and done. Good as new again. I bought a gallon and maybe used a third of it. I also coated 2 motorcycle lifts. It's chemical resistant to a certain point. I've gotten brake cleaner, carb cleaner and gasoline on the lifts. The iron armor holds up as long as you wipe it up within a couple of minutes. After ten minutes it fades it to a duller color. Like I said for $30 dollars a gallon I'm happy with the results.
