Here's my White 2015 SR5 4WD.
I've always wanted a 4runner since my ma owned one in the 90s.
Definitely my dream car.
Plan on utilizing it's ruggedness on biyearly baja trips as I'm from San Diego.



AS OF 11/11/2015

BACKGROUND
Sold my car and my bike for the down payment. Bike was my project before this one.

What I've done thus far:
-Plastidipped front emblem black
-Plastidipped back and side emblems black
-Plastidipped wheels black
-Plastidipped the center emblem white
-Used Meguiar's spray wax to protect the plastidip
-Tinted driver and passenger windows to match privacy glass
-22" magnaflow
-Rostra Seat Heaters
-Napier SUV Tent with awning and screen room
-9005 LED DRL/High Beams and Turn Signal Mod
-Bilstein 5100s, dual OME rear coil spacers and spidertrax
-Viper Alarm system with Remote Start, Glass Break Sensor and Dash Cam
-DIY LIGHTBARS
-Infinity Reference Dash Speakers
-RCI Metalworks Engine Skid Painted White

-Finish seat heater install
-Tires and Wheels (FN faux TRD Pro wheels)

3/20/15 Update

Added a few more mods I've completed both on the truck and on the to-do list:

DONE:
-Switchback LED front turn signals (5700k) from superbrightleds
The switchbacks work fine though the 7443 models from superbrightleds aren't very long or bright. The length bothers me due to the fact that if they extended further, the would catch more of the reflector in the housing. The gap at the top of the reflector is visible in the picture annnnnd it bugs me. Also, taking the bumper off to get to the turn signals... :AK47:
UPDATE: DISABLED SWITCHBACK OPTION. LIGHTS ONLY COME ON WHEN SIGNALING TO TURN

-5500k Morimoto HIDs with 50w ballast
The HIDs are CRAZY bright. Brightest on the road with a better cut-off than I thought. However, the 50w ballast bleeds the color -1000k so now I have 4500k lights that have (what I think) is a yellow tinge, which I do not like. I'm thinking about switching to 6000k or even 6500k in order to better match my DRLs and get a pure white with a hint of blue.
UPDATE: SWITCHED TO 6500k BULBS

-LED rear turn signals
Got these off superbrightleds as well. Very easy to install both lights and resistors, though they aren't bright enough for day time. Super cheap though, so if I get stronger units it won't be so bad. Thought of going red; could be interesting. I also enjoy that there is no more amber color from the bulb in my taillight (picture). It's worth noting that if you do in fact need to remove the taillight, it's a *****.

-LED license plate light
Weakest available at superbrightleds works fine. Looks SO MUCH better. No resistor needed.

-Matched front window tint to privacy glass
Car looks great with new tint. I do wish I could match the color of the privacy glass, as the tint looks green (like my last car), though I'm starting to believe that it's not possible. Trying hard to get past it, as it looks fine from the outside and works wonders for the climate on the inside.

-Kicker Hideway 8" powered sub (under driver seat)
I used to have a ported 12" Alpine and as a musician/audiophile, I did my best to temper my expectations. It really does a lot for the sound system and adds some nice punch. Works wonderfully for such a small package as well as being located under my seat. Can hit hard if you need it, but won't get those smooth, butt-tickling lows that you can get from something big and moves air. Definitely matters how quality the recordings are that you're playing through your audio device. Having purchased this, I may be closer than I was prior to replacing the stock stereo as it could clean up the signal that the sub is receiving. Whether that or that and door speakers happens, we'll wait and see what the research unveils, but definitely cool that you wouldn't even know I had a sub in my car.

I'm posting my build thread because this site has already given me loads of information on my own vehicle and hopefully someone wants to replicate what I've done and can ask questions!

Thus far I've:
-Installed FH seat covers
-Plastidipped front emblem black
-Plastidipped back and side emblems black
-Plastidipped wheels black
-Plastidipped the center emblem white
-Used Meguiar's spray wax to protect the plastidip

In the future:
-Match front window tint
-Install 6000k HIDs
-Install switchback 6000k LED blinkers
-Install LED fogs
-Install two small lightbars in grill (picture)

Notes:
-I didn't mask the tires well enough, nor did I accumulate enough dip to pull it all off so there are remnants, but nothing that can't be taken care of.

22" Magnaflow

Decided I didn't really appreciate my truck sounding like a civic so I threw in this 22" magnaflow. No highway drone at all. Definitely sounds how this vehicle should. Shorter would have been a tad annoying IMO.

Rostra Seat Heaters

Purchased these these seat heaters. Install was definitely a ***** but as a first timer and happy to say everything came apart and went back together with no issue. I replaced the hog rings with zip ties and they seem to do the trick.

Unfortunately the dial switch that comes with these seat heaters is bigger than the OEM slots near the center console so I'm still thinking of alternatives and if I want to make the openings bigger on my own. I want to QC them badly but it's taken a back seat to other mods at the moment.

Napier SUV tent

Purchased this SUV tent from Napier. I'll mostly be using it in Baja so I wanted something rugged enough and it seems as though this tent will be. Extremely spacious and I set it up for the first time in about 20 min.

9005 LED DRL/High Beams and Turn Signal Mod

9005 LED DRL/High Beams

These are quality and very bright. Easy install. Huge upgrade over warm yellow DRLs.

The picture posted is not the DRL intensity but the High Beam intensity as it is hard to get a decent picture of the DRLs because they run at a slower frequency (I think) and thus cameras have a tough time with the flicker.

The turn signal mod was done to eliminate the turn signal DRLs that are on with the headlights. I have switchbacks in there currently but the light temps are hard to get right between those and my HIDs so I just eliminated it. They now only come on when I'm signaling to turn. Very easy mod as you just bend one of the bulbs wires so it doesn't connect.

Bilstein 5100s, dual OME rear coil spacers and spidertrax

Installed Bilstein 5100s at 1.75" paired with two OME 10mm (roughly .75") rear coil spacers on each side.

I still have rake which I wanted so I don't get reverse rake when lugging around gear or towing. Once I replace my coils then I'll probably make it completely level.

I LOVE the stance now. It's how it always should have been. :hungry:
