Anyone try one of these Ebay flip keys?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/EUROPE-FLIP-KEY-FOR-TOYOTA-BAB237131-022-RS3000-D0-GRAY-REMOTE-CLICKER-FOB-ALARM/362107913444?hash=item544f5044e4:g:7zsAAOSwicZZwPZ3&vxp=mtr

They even sell replicas of the original remote now. I want to give this a shot since it takes up less pocket space.

Oh I like that. I have a viper alarm. But I’ll never trust it as much as a factory alarm. I had few issues with viper such as it won’t unlock the doors.( as in it acts up, rarely but has happened) Only with key or factory knob. So that would be nice to have as a spare insurance. ( cannot really remove the factory alarm , because unplugging the brains won’t allow you to start the truck. And I am not tracing the wires under the dash !)

I have an aftermarket alarm in one of my 4Runners, but whoever installed it unplugged the factory alarm. I think I have the factory alarm install manual somewhere if you decide to remove it.

Well. I tried unplugging it. And the truck won’t start. If you can find it and share it. That would be nice.

I didn't try the flip type, but did buy a Camry style all-in-one key. It was one that the FOB was a part of the key itself. I was able to program it for a 4Runner, but the build quality of the key was absolute junk and barely lasted two weeks.

I bought this:

It's very high quality, feels as high quality as the OEM fob for my 2017 Tacoma. It came with programming instructions (which I already had) and works like a charm. I got the key portion cut at Home Depot...they didn't even charge me. It's a great deal in my opinion. When I first bought my new to me 1996 4runner the owner did not have any key fobs so I bought a pair off amazon that worked fine, but they were the original OEM style that required a separate key. This one is much better.
