RSG Off-road 5th Gen Sliders

I've been going back and forth for about protection for my '17 4Runner. I settled on sliders to start with and go from there. I'm not doing a lift right know because I may not keep the 4Runner after the lease.

There are a ton of options so I won't go into all choices.

I got RSG Off-road's flat, powder coated and with top plates.

I'm very happy with them. The flat vs angled makes a great step. There is just enough to stand on the slider with the doors closed. Accessing my Thule roof box is a breeze. The kick out in the rear makes easy access for the small humans.

The protection for the rocker and door panels is great. I have very little worry about incidental trail damage. The top plate works great for a step, but for me it about the protection. A sharp pointy rock with fangs. You that that rock over there. Yes. Look at it. It will kill you. It's just a rock. The top plate adds another layer protection for anything that may miss the main tubes of the slider.

Up next, I may be adding a full ARB skid package. Under $500 make it very tempting. At this point I'll wait. I have a front skid and if I hit that I know the rest won't clear.

Hey Ted. Were you at RSG today? I think I saw your truck drive off as I was walking up Colfax from the Garrison train station.
RSG just did my suspension and audio this week and I picked it up today!

RSG just did my suspension and audio this week and I picked it up today!

I was there on Tuesday 2/27. It would have been just after 12:30ish. What lift did you get?

I've been extremely happy with RSG. Super nice and really treat people well.

Every time I went to Slee I got the feeling they were to good to talk to me. Even more so when they were building their new shop. The last time I asked Slee about a suspension product they didn't carry they guy dropped the conversation like a hot potato. Even had the balls to say if I didn't buy the kit he suggested I would be sorry and back at their shop to fix my mess .... WTF.

Never once did I get that feeling at RSG. RSG was happy to talk Dobinson or Iron Man 4x4 all day long.

I agree. Slee tried to put me into a BP-51 set up at close to 4k installed despite me saying I just want to get off the beaten path and take my kid camping away from as many people as possible. Then he had the gall to say "sure they claim to be rebuildable but you'll just want to replace them in about 40,000 miles." WTF?
Haven't been back since.

Jason and Drew at RSG have been very responsive and helpful.
I went in thinking I wanted a Fox 2.5 set up - I told Drew what I wanted out of it and what I disliked about the stock ride. He said I'd be happier with the Toytec Boss Performance that uses Radflo dampeners. He felt Fox would be too stiff for what I'm looking for, their experience has been that the Toytec needs rebuilding less often, and that the Performance suspension is what they put on all the GXs that come through. So they saved me some money there.

I went with a Dobinsons C59-505 in the rear - unfortunately it's giving me an inch more lift than its supposed to so I'm at 2.25 in the rear (same in the front - that's as high as they felt comfortable keeping the stock UCAs). Not sure what to do. Install has been checked and its correct.Also pulled a sticker off the coils and they are indeed the 505s. Mike said to give it a few hundred miles and call back to discuss.

Came out to $713.99 for shipping to Las Vegas. The shipping amount was $114.99. I didn't pull the trigger though. Tonight at work I did the same and was prepared to order. The same exact method of shipping is now $388.33 for a total of $987.33. I took a screenshot showing both shipping amounts as it was still up on my home computer. Anyone else in the same boat?

For those who purchased the RSG sliders with plates, is there a room beneath the rocker and the top of the slider for your foot to fit? It seems that these hang down a little lower than the C4fab model that I’m trying to decide between.

My apologies on the differences in shipping, we’ve been experimenting with different shipping companies and at one point had the weight / dimensions off on the T4R product. Everything should be good to go now!
