Ruined my pass seat in my TEP. Anyone have part #?

The other night I placed a bag of drinks in the pass seat briefly but it was dark and I didn't immediately notice when I moved the bag to the floor the apple juice had been leaking onto the seat. After an hour drive I noticed it on arrive and quickly sopped up what little moisture there was left and wiped clean with just water. Here's the result in that mistake:

I've tried cleaning but the apple juice definitely somehow bleached out the dye from the leather. Does anyone have access to the part number from Toyota to see if I can track down one? I rang up my local dealer and he said he could get one but it was $680. For that I'm sure I could search around and locate an entire seat.

I've not had this two weeks so I'm really kicking myself over this mistake. I was planning on getting some Clazzios or maybe even springing for Katzkin covers to keep the factory leather pristine but this puts a big damper in that idea.

you could maybe try something like idye poly and see if you could just re-dye the whole bottom cover of the seat? You can find the idye poly at places like JoAnn fabrics or Michaels or even online here: https://www.dharmatrading.com/dyes/idye-for-natural-and-poly-fabrics.html

I use this stuff a lot in one of my other hobbies and it is great, once it is set it won't fade or bleed.

Call Katzkin and see if they would send one that piece. Though, softex is synthetic and acrylic leather (thermoplastic polyurethane). Katzkin is full grain leather.

Yah I'm definitely going to try to dye it first but thought I'd see if I could get the part # and find it from another Toyota dealer if my attempt fails. Unfortunately there aren't many auto upholstery options in my area so the one who could do it said around $250 with $300 being worst case.

Well, it's not leather, it's softex. So you might want to mention that when you're getting quotes.

I used to run full seat covers until I got my trail with softex seats, and now I have people climbing in and out of the 4runner with their fishing waders on all the time. The seats wipe up very easily. I'm surprised to see this damage to your seats. That apple juice is a mother

Unfortunately the problem isn't a stain, the black is bleached out. I'm guessing whatever apple juice I bought was extremely acidic.

Some apple juices contain arsenic as well, at least that was a concern a few years ago.

If it was me I’d have an installer put some Katskinz on, had them on my last 4Runner, before trails/trdor’s had a softex option, and the leather was nicer than my current limited. Maybe throw some ventilator fans in there at the same time. Best of luck.

Personally, skip the softex crap and get the real leather from Katzkin. Plus, you can have the installer add or remove foam if you want.

Yah it can be cross referenced. I guess there's a new part number assigned when they discontinued the TEP and turned it into the TRDOR because it's apparently the same. I wish it was $215+ because my dealer, who admittedly will gouge you wanted $580. That's why I'm going to just convert over to Katskin.

I sure wouldn't even consider spending money to replace the seat / cover. I don't care about scratches, minor dents, interior stains... I mean, I keep it clean and I'm not a slob, but I bought it to use it. Why care about shit that doesn't affect function? Maybe I'm the only guy on t4r that gives zero shits.

I was thinking the same thing, although I would also consider doing the rest of the seat to match :lol:

:rofl: Yeah, I would get some black upholstery dye or shoe polish and call it a day. My dog's nails have snagged the seat upholstery in mine but I'm truly the only one that notices stuff like that.

If it was as minor as it shows in the picture I likely woudln't mind terribly though the truck is new to me. However the picture doesn't really show how intense it is and it looks like Strawberry Shortcake had a vaginal bleed in my pass seat. I've had two people go to hop in and exclaim "Oh god, what's that". One friend just sat in the back, refusing to ride shotgun.
