running board power supply

does anyone know how difficult it'd be to run a button out to the power supply that goes to the lights on the running boards?

I just had to re-wire mine last fall, the passenger side front wire was bad somewhere.

It should be a fairly straightforward project -- the plug going to the running board wiring is easily accessible, located in the center of the board coming off the body. Trace that back as far as you can and splice in a set of wires on each side going to a switch.

Just curious and nosy, why are you doing this?

it'd be either for an air compressor or the extremely unlikely alternative an exhaust cutout lol most likely a compressor for a train horn in the grill do you remember which fuse it goes to?

That seems like the wrong way to power it to me. It's fairly small wiring and it's tied into the same circuit as your interior lights, clock, keyless entry, and trip odometer.

Yup, that's how car fires are started.

I don't really think there's much advantage to doing that anyway. If you're already wiring up a switch and finding a way to splice it into the existing wire, how much more work is it really to just run a new wire from a different source out the same hole that the running board wires go out of?

Pretty much how I view it, as well.
