Running wires through rear hatch

Looking for feedback - I’ve mounted a 100W solar panel to the roof rack that charges an AGM battery box when parked. I need to run two 12AWG wires from the panel to the box in the back of the 4Runner. Any issues running the wires through the narrow gap in the rear hatch by the hinge and under the weatherstripping? Thoughts or experience?
