Rust on sliders

I had some sliders made and welded on about 3 weeks ago. They were rattle can painted, and not sure if they were primed. I am already starting to see some surface rust around several of the welds. Could I just respray them with some rust stop paint?

Yeah, remove the rust, loose paint, sand and prime then paint. You should be fine. I've painted my a lot w/o issues - it's part of my Spring cleaning routine.

I just use rustoleum spray bed liner and touch it up whenever they get scraped up by rocks. Gets the job done

POR-15 did a great job on my rust spots. Not a lot of prep work needed, just clean the area up and apply the product. It's a little pricey but it works really well.

That's what I do. I sand them down and respray them.

Colorado winters are bad on steel.

If you are planning to take your 4runner off the road, repaint them using bedliner. Rustoleum bedliner is easy to touch up.
