Rust question

I ran across a 98 4runner for sale Kinda close to me. Not terribly high miles and body seems overall fair condition. What is bad is it was used in North Carolina many years where they salt the road and the rocker panels are rusted bad. He said the rest is good but they are not. Are these things replaceable for a reasonable price? Any options would be nice. Here are some pics of it.
Any help would be much appreciated!

It must be from Boone or something. It probably started life way up North. My 4runner was sold here and doesn't have any rust.

I would not buy that 4runner either.

Yeah he must have been in the mountains someplace. Mine came from Sanford near the coast and doesn't have a speck of rust on it. It is a shame to see this when a little preventative Maintenance would have really helped.

yeah skip on that one, that looks like what we deal with up here in the salt belt.

Also if the rockers are that bad, EVERYTHING else underneath is bad as well. Changing any bolt on the undercarriage will be a pain.

Holy crap. My 97 was bought new here in CT and no rust to that extent at all. That one looks aweful. Keep looking.

My rockers look worse then that on my '97, but considering it has been a winter beater up here in Canada since new, it is not surprising. In my case the truck was my dad's and he dealer serviced it right up until last spring and because of that maintenance working on the truck is actually not bad, nuts and bolts so far have come off with out to much issue. But the last time I was under it, I started to wonder exactly how much longer it will last. Thankfully I got mine for free, so i will run it until it dies on the side of the road or I am forced to retire it.

Rust like that doesn't happen in NC. Not even in NJ. If it runs good, offer $1200 at most but no more.

haha i've seen 70 year old vehicles sitting in barns and in fields that have less rust on the rockers then that, run...don't walk...
