Some background .My original brakes lasted 150K plus miles . After 50K miles on second set of pads , I was getting vibration when I got on brakes hard I was told by one dealer my pads were 90% shot after only 50K . He had no explanation why the first brakes lasted three times as long . Second opinion from another dealer said my pads were OK but I had a broken caliper . They recommended two new calipers and two new rotors as there was not enough on the rotors to turn them. The second opinion seemed more like it so I had it done to the tune of $745 . Now 2000 miles later, the calipers and base of the rotors, which encircle the axle are covered in rust . My original calipers were free of rust after nearly 200K miles . Wouldn't one expect a Toyota dealer to use Toyota parts and that those parts would not immediately rust . My invoice lists the rotor part no. as 31326 @ $81.83 a piece and the caliper no as 19-2767 and $125.47 a piece.
I have no idea if they are Toyota part numbers . Anybody else know ? I suspect they used aftermarket parts without advising me of that fact .
