Alright, so as I just posted last week, I picked up a newer 2008 SR5 V6 with 83k miles on it and traded in my 2005 V8.
I’m starting a build thread already on it.

Installed the bull bar with fog lights on it as I had on my 2005, and also changed the spark plugs today. The plugs were original with NGK on the driver side and Denso on the passenger. I changed all 6 of them out to Denso Iridium from Advanced Auto Parts. Paid $39 for all of them and it took about a half hour to install. The original plugs were pretty worn for only 83k miles.

Any cause for concern with the burn marks on the actual insulator?

Honestly, not a whole lot different. You can tell the V8 has more power, but just daily driving, I can’t tell much of a difference.

Yeah, I was surprised to read that the advertised HP ratings were quite similar. I guess the main difference would be in torque for towing. Mileage should be a bit better, though.

Took her to the dealership this morning to get the new tires and my wheels on her. Took a few hours but she looks good. They were originally supposed to get me KO2’s but, they didn’t. They got me some Ironman All Country A/T tires. It’s not that big of a deal to me because I plan to lift it and get all new tires in the near future so these will work for now.

Also took out the hydrocarbon filter and painted the grille with bed liner spray. She’s coming together, boys.

Next up is probably a lift or leveling kit for now.

I wouldn't worry about it much. I replaced my originals at about 138,000 and mine were in a similar situation (maybe a little worse than yours) I heard somewhere that rust can cause some of the staining.

Got her leveled today. The new tires were rubbing pretty bad even after moving the fender lining and removing the mud flap, so I opted for the same 1” DayStar spacer I had on my previous 4Runner. I think it came out great.

It’s at 35”1/4 in the front and 36” in the back from floor to fender. Much better than the 33” 1/4 I had before.

Actually, the older V8’s have more output. They’re rated at 270hp and from 2006 onward they’re rated at 260hp.

Same goes for the V6, from 2005 and older they put out 245hp and the 2006 and newer put out 236hp. I don’t know why Toyota would’ve lowered their HP output on newer years, but just daily driving it, you can’t really tell the loss in power a whole lot.

I'm pretty sure the V6 is suppose to use copper plugs and they should be replaced every 30,000 miles so it's no wonder the original plugs are worn!!

That being said I know several V6 owners have switch to the Iridium plugs with it seems no ill affects but many stay wiht the copper plugs.

The discoloration on the old plugs is not an issue IMHO.

Something simple that I did, blacked out the back tail lights with VHT Night Shades. Not sure if I want to tint the third brake light as well or just leave it as.

Just updating the thread on the newest additions to the build.

Added two more LED fog lights on the bull bar just for more light at night when driving through the country.

Also removed factory fog light housings and added LED 4in fog lights and retrofit the fitting for them to look factory. Still wired directly to my factory fog light switch. They light up a bunch of the bottom part of the road. Took me about 30mins at the most to install them. Well worth it. $40 on Amazon.

Haven't had a whole bunch of time to tackle any major projects lately. The weather in San Antonio has been super crappy over the past month and a half, so we're finally seeing some sun now and I got to wash her yesterday. Looking to black out the badges or just remove them as a whole, what do you think?
