Satoshi Grill Mod - 5th Gen

Old thread, but was wondering if you still make 2013 grilles, and if so how much?

message Adio3x he is the only person I know on this forum that sells custom made ones for our 2010-2013, you can send him your grill and he will order the parts to convert it.

I had a forum member mod mine using a second grille I purchased, but I ended up re-doing all of it myself with the customcargrills grille.

The customcargrills grille has the nice welded metal bead around the perimeter (instead of the door-protector rubber you need around the ragged edge with any manually-trimmed mesh). I also cleaned up the remaining stock plastic grille cutout that was an eye-sore left from the "ok but not perfect" attempt by the guy that initially did my mod (and was attached with zip ties!). The initial attachment of the Toyota emblem left much to be desired as well (I used appropriately sized/placed 3M VHD instead).

I then did the bottom grille to match. You can actually do the bottom grille w/o removing the bumper as some seemed to do...

If you are anal like me - do it yourself :)

Did you just buy a sheet and custom cut it for the bottom grille?

Yes. For the bottom grille, I used the matching 6" x 36" Diamond XXL with the Neoprene Rubber Edge Trim.

It looks like CustomCarGrilles top grille might be slightly different than when I purchased mine back in 2013. I recall mine having the metal bead and a few attachment points around the perimeter. The pics I'm seeing on their website now don't show that perimeter bead. Odd...

Enjoy :hat:

Thanks! I am considering going with the perforated mesh for top and bottom, but not sure how it would look. I like the look of the lettered "TOYOTA" logo instead of the emblem.

Hoping someone who has run into this problem before can help me out. I'm looking to do the Satoshi grille mod, and bought a grille on Ebay to cut, so I don't have to cut my stock one. I asked the seller if there were any broken clips on it, and he said no, but when it arrived, the clip on the lower right is broken off. He has offered to return it, or give me a partial refund, Looking on Ebay, a lot of these grilles are being sold with broken clips, so it appears quite common.

So, has anyone broken one of the clips on the grille while attempting to do this mod? If so, how secure was it when you finished? Did you also break a corner clip? Would you return it, or take the partial refund? Any insight is appreciated.

I wonder if it would be possible to just repair that piece somehow?

Hopefully someone has dealt with that before though.

I'm looking to do this mod on my new TRD Off-Road Premium, I prefer the look of the Pro grill, the dealership didn't offer this upgrade.

What "end clips"? I'm trying to remove the upper grill and have removed the push connectors and the single hood locking mechanism bolt, but I can't remove the grill shroud it wont budge. I don't see where it is still attached to the lower grill shroud. I'm trying to install, I believe, the same grill as yours. Any advise will be most appreciated.

I have a new Customcargrill on my desk now. It has no metallic bead and only the rubber or neoprene edge covers only the lower edge.
