Savage Rear tube bumper questions

Hey guys was wondering if I could get some quick info on the savage rear tube bumper I have sitting in my garage.

- How great is the distance between the bumper and the exhaust tip? It seems too me its gonna look stupid. I would love to see some pics!

- I dont really want to hack up my exhaust. Could an exhaust shop bend the factory pipe to sit more snugly with the bumper?

-There are 2 holes in the bumper that are not on my 4runnner. I beleive these are for newer model trucks (2000+). If I'm using grade 8 hardware do I really need to drill those 2 holes into the 4Runner?

-Also do any of you savage rear bumper owners have any advice or warnings before install?

No warnings, just strap her up! As for the exhaust, not much you can do other than let it ride, chop it back where it rides over the axle, or do what I did and get a new muffler and have the shop do it right, cut high with a kick out so you dont kill yourself w/CO.

^ De Twizzle Can I not just have an exhaust shop curve my pre-existing pipe? Or am I missing something.

No, they bend the tubing b4 it is welded in place and most likely your existing pipe is too brittle to do anything with but rust.

Here's what mine looks like.

I have an aftermarket exhaust and my local mechanic / welder moved the exhaust mounting bracket. Install the bumper then pay a muffler shop to re-weld the tube in new spot. He charged me $40 for the welding. The Tip is a bolt on Toyota TRD Tundra tip.

I have their rear bumper.

Why even waste that much time if the boulders will do that to it anyways....that's what the rocks did to my tip... looked like kermit the frogs frown.

And also did you install that bumper when you had a stock suspension setup? If so how much rear sag did you have after the bumper was installed?

Just hack it off with a sawzall that way it wont get pinched shut while wheelin' Thats how Roy from Savage runs his and he cut mine off for me as well.

Hmm. Wouldnt it sag if you cut it behind that rubber support that holds the exhaust up or are there moure mounts that hold it steady that I cant see?

I had the same lift I do now when I installed it.

The rear bumper doesn't weigh much more than the stock bumper. Also since I removed the tow hitch and spare tire, I think my rear end has less weight now.

Doesnt sag at all after cutting it off.
