I saw my 3rd gen a few weeks ago at a junk yard with 3 others. Mine was the only one without a e locker, I would have bought all the others if they worked! Mine had 378,456 miles (who the hell bought it after it was totaled and drove it that much?! It for totaled with 136k!) in good condition. Whoever bought it after I totaled it did a great job restoring it. If I remember correctly a guy at the collision center it was at when they told me it was totaled bought it. I wish I would have bought it from insurance and had it around to tinker with and eventually restore it, but looks like someone beat me to it! Wish I would have gotten some pics, but here's one from a few days after the accident.

thats not a bad price. My roommates TC moonroof belt snapped but his motor was functional, but it was easier to replace the entire roof assembly vs just the belt. I think it was 100 + core to replace the entire thing. Still not a bad deal IMO

Found 2 98s near me and need a clock and rear heater, so I'll check it out to see if available. Anything else I should look for that I can keep as spare parts?

a lot of these mentioned parts i have pulled and sold from 6 runners in local yards, one of which has gotten crushed already. i still have parts left that need to go so take a look and let me know as i don't need them.

A White 99 SR5 rolled in the other day. Bought the whole thing for a steal. The front was smashed. I already got the core support straightened. Now I just need to find the complete front bumper assembly. Some of it can be salvaged but other stuff I might have to buy brand new. As of now all new factory parts sets me at $940. Ouch!

I found three at a You Pull It called EZ Pull and Save.

Over a few trips I took:

1)Sunroof complete. (Pain but now I know how to do it.

2)Rear wiper assembly

3)Rear lower suspension links and rear trac bar

4)Instrument cluster X2

5) vacuum switches for the 4 wheel drive

6) air box with the mass air flow sensor still attached

7) viscous fan assembly

8) handful of relays from under hood junction boxes

9) coolant overflow tank.

10) a trans cooler from a 1 ton Chevy van for the 4Runner

11) throttle body with all sensors still attached

Things I still want are

1) the combination switch assembly under the steering wheel

2) front axil disconnect

3) front hood

4) drivers side tan seat.

5) RS3000 remote system

6) the shims for the cam. Someone removed the heads off one and dumped all the parts in back. The person just took bare heads with the valves.

7) rear axil housing that someone already removed with zero rust. I sandblasted mine but would like another to completely go over and then install.

8) rear brake backing plates.
7) front bumper. (Crome looks nasty buy no rust yet)

I went to one junk yard here in Cali and found three third gens, the yard was one out of 20 or so where I was and about 2 acres. Out of the 30 or so acres of junk yards I'd have to say that there were some great oppertunities out there. I'm going to go there again, there are so many things I could find and resale. I'm 100% confident I could find everything I needed to rebuild a few 4runners. Mmm mmm mmmmmm finger lickin pickin goodness!

I got SR5 wide flares, 99+ headlights, a locker switch, a 99+ grille...all for 160 buckeroos.

'97 Rear bumper, all the front lights, air cleaner box with MAF, spare tire if it's still good, rear axle if it has the e-locker, front CVs if they look decent, '99 center console, clutch fan, heck I might even take the engine at the right price.

I wish I had the money to get all of those things at once hahaha. My T4R is slow progress. Might make a progress thread soon.

Anyone else want to comment on what they think would be useful items, or tell us what you picked up?

This is kind of a weird one, but 96-98 cloth sport seats and armrests. The fabric feels a lot higher quality than in the later model years.
