Scion HU in a 2002 Runner

Does anyone have any pictures of a 2006 1807 Scion single knob HU (it's the one that says satellite ready) installed in their 3rd gen 4Runner?

I spent all Saturday trying to get mine to fit, and I couldn't. I trimmed and trimmed and trimmed, and I still can't get the console bezel to fit over it. The radio opening even sort of hits the power and eject buttons on either side of the radio -- it looks odd. I have been reading about people doing this mod, but after getting it in their, I don't see how people are doing this. I trimmed the black plastic on the HU as far as I could on the right and the left sides (I thought I did at least?).

It's a crappy Ebay auction picture, but here is the radio I have.

Any pictures or advice would be nice!

thanks

I bought one for my 98 Couldnt get it to slide in there either. So i ended up selling teh unit on ebay.

Goodluck getting yours to work!

I'll post pics tonight when i get home, i have a 2001 4runner with that radio. Works great, louder and more bass coming out of the speakers. It fits, but you have to do a little trimming around the bezel to make it fit flush.

Thanks Jay. Do you know of any differences in the fit between a 2001 and a 2002 4Runner? Or is it pretty much the same?

The size behind the bezel is the same for the most part, meaning you wont have a problem putting it in and mounting it. Even the brackets and holes line up perfectly. When you get it mounted and put the front bezel on, you will notice it wont go all the way on or snap into the plastic snap things. Slightly trim the bezel about an 1/8" all around the opening and it will fit nice. Use a dremel to make it clean and neat. I didnt have a dremel, so i used a pair of very small snips and just nibbled the plastic and cleaned it up with a fine file to smooth it out.

Somehow the owner of this 3rd gen 4Runner got his Scion HU to fit.

Man why would you want that in your dash anyways

The piece of shit stock radio went to crap, and i picked this one up for $70 shipped from ebay. Sounds better, and plays MP3's. Its a truck, its not some luxuary SUV or some kick ass sound system that makes it look like im some 19 year old kid that needs to impress everyone thats driving around me. Id rather spend my hard earned money on other things then a gotty loud sound system.

HEY i resent that! :p Didn't you used to have an eclipse dvd/nav in your 4runner? maybe it wasnt you though cant remeber.

I have a couple of questions about doing this on my 99 Limited. I do not think I will have any trouble trimming the panel if that is all I have to do.

Currently I have the stock Toyota radio with a USASpec DF-TOY that adds two AUX ports by using the CD Changer interface. I found one mention on the web that the DF-TOY will work with the SCION radio also. Can anyone confirm this? If so, this would be a great upgrade for me.

Thanks!
Jay
