Scion iPod cable question

I bought a Scion T1809 head unit on eBay a few days ago ($99 Buy-it-now!!!). The seller is including the wiring harness that attaches to the rear of the unit. This includes the first section of iPod cable.

When originally installed in a Scion, this cable would then attach to an intermediate cable (PT546-21061) which has a connecting jack on the end and then to the iPod 'customer' cable (PT546-21062) which attaches to the iPod itself.

I know most people here just buy the custom $70 cable from eBay and forego any of this original wiring. However, I actually have the 'customer' cable already. Therefore, I will have 2 of the 3 necessary cables to connect to my iPod. The middle cable (PT546-21061) seems impossible to find though.

Does anyone know if I can simply cut both cables that I have and splice the wires together?

Part #PT546-21060 IPod Cable Assembly includes the 2 parts you mention - PT546-21062 IPod Customer Cable and PT546-21061 Vehicle Cable. I have PT546-21060 with both parts (new) and would be willing to sell them. I haven't checked on a going price and would prefer to sell the 2 parts together but make me an offer for one or both.

There was a dealer in Texas that sold the cables over the internet but their website changed and I can no longer find the cables to price you could try partznet the cables run around 70 each. Its easier to buy the SC12235 from billc41 on ebay, just one cable and you can hide it anywhere. Since you have the customer cable already that would mean you already have the Ipod Jack in the glove box too right? Contact billc41 from eBay and ask if he has that middle cable for you. Also you probably have the wire inside your vehicle just look around for some wire not currently used because the new 4runners advertise that you can connect the ipod you probably have everything you need already.

Thanks for the replies. I wound up buying the $70 eBay cable and it works great.

BTW, for anyone contemplating switching out your base 4Runner radio to a Scion radio, I would say go for it.

There is a huge difference in the sound quality and having iPod control through the head unit (and steering wheel!) is great. Quick and easy to change out too.
