Seafoam on my TRD supercharged 3rd gen...

i have a supercharged 3rd gen and was wondering if it would be safe to use this? i don't want it damaging the supercharger. i would be using the hose that is normally connected to the PCV so therefore its running through the impellers of the S/C. Anyone done this with their TRD supercharged 3rd gen with 3.4l?

I remember some mentioning they have done this before will no ill effects. Personally, I have not done it (yet) but my engine was pretty clean the last time I had it apart. If you've ever rebuild the supercharger you'll see there's nothing really in there that will be damaged, the rotors are solid metal and just spin in the metal housing. The only concern is if the rotors are damaged or off-center the seafoam could leak into rear bearings, but if the rotors were in that sort of shape you'd have some shaking and a lot of noise coming from your supercharger.
 
Funny you ask. I just did this a couple days ago on my sc'd 3.4. I actually tapped into a port on the TB and sucked it from the can into the engine there. It will try to kill the engine if you go too fast but other than that, no problems so far.
 
I have done it with no problems. Look into getting seafoams fogger instead for the pcv tube. It works great!
 
I've often thought about throwing some in my meth injection reservoir, but I've heard if you have any type of meth kit it pretty much steam cleans your engine every time it turns on.

Works great in the crank case 50 miles before oil change to clean out all the crap left behind though.
 
I really, really want a meth kit.

The clean engine benefit is very hard to ignore as the KM's keep adding up.

EDIT - meth injection kit, methanol injection.

ill have to look into that fogger, didn't know that existed. And also thanks to all you other folks for your help. I did also think the same as far as what was mentioned about the rear bearings, i don't want the seafoam to somehow get in there. anyways, gonna do this. thanks again fellas :zoom:
 
Yo fellas, which line is it to seafoam w/ a gen 1 TRD SC on?

Seafoam has a new bottle that you spray into the throttle body. That's what I used the last time I did it, and would recommend to you.

I've never seafoamed a gen1 SC with just the can and a vacuum hose... If I were to do it I'd use the vacuum line off of the brake booster I think.

During the install... we noticed my 2002 doesnt have a vac line on brake booster. :fencing:
 
I think you can also use PCV valve but the spray can into throttle body is easiest.

I know that 2002-2002 don't use vacuum but rather electric version of hydro-boost
