Seat Covers, suggestions?

i was looking for new seat covers, my 08' Urban Runner drivers seat has seen better days. after reading this and many other threads I went with the wet okole. the color combo matches my factory rear seats nicely, so i only had to get the fronts. I paid $303 for both fronts after adding the logo and drivers side gun pocket (holds two pistols in two different pockets nicely)
they were easy to install, fit real snug and nice. high quality from what I can tell. only pain point was the dust cover.

only con I can think of, is they are a little thicker so I feel like im sitting up higher. im thinking over time that will change. taller people beware. im 5'9" and feel a little more cramped. other drawback and not even really one. I checked yes for motorized drivers seat, with this they put a slit for the controls, well one control. the lumbar and front control are still covered. passenger side I checked no motorized seats but turns out I do, now all of the controls are covered. no biggie since I never adjust them anyway unless cleaning, and even then you can still use controls.

Does everyone sweat with the Softex seats that come in the Trail version

I've had my first 4Runner for a month now. Brand new. Trail. Upgrade from a Limited Rav4. I simply love the car, but simply hate the seats. I am not someone who sweats easily, but those seats make me sweat in 70 degree weather, as if I was seating in plastic. They call the material Softex, which is supposed to be soft and resistant. But they are more like plastic, and my legs literally drip if I spend over 20 min driving, even with the ac on. It is like my skin doesn't breathe. Never experienced this before! Rav 4 had leather seats and were great.
I feel it is stupid to have to place a seat cover to be able to sit on my brand new car. It is absurd to spend close to $1000 to get covers that look nice. And it is even worse to spend little and have a brand new car with cheap covers over brand new seats that look great (but are also cheap, I guess). I will start driving with a towel, to avoid sweating, and therefore future smelling. But this is a temporary solution and I think it is simply wrong!
Any suggestions? Does anyone have the same problem?

Yep, I have a suggestion, do NOT get wet okole seat covers if you sweat with the softex!

I still love Wet Okole seat covers, but they are neoprene covers and do NOT breathe at all! That's the whole point of their seat covers, they are meant for folks who are into watersports like swimming/surfing/paddleboarding, etc., you can jump in with wet shorts/shirt and not have to worry about it getting into the seat itself.

This also means that it gets extremely warm all year round, and if you have a problem being sweaty with the softex, these covers, and any other neoprene cover for that matter, will make you hate life in your 4runner!

This is probably way too obvious of a suggestion. But I have black softex and closing the sunroof cover and putting a cheap sunshade in the windshield is the difference between me sweating or not. I've had my truck sitting outside all day and get right in with it 95deg, no cool down period. It's hot for a little bit, but cools off quick and no issues sweating. And that's in long pants and shirt. When I park I sometimes also consider direction of the sun, especially at work where I'm always parking in the same spot. Keeping it at the top/rear of the vehicles and not coming right in the windshield can help.

Thank you, I usually don't sweat wearing pants either, is when I am wearing shorts. The skin and the seat don't do well together and I always sweat. But thanks for helping, I will try to keep that in mind.

Anyone know if bartact (previously trek armor) will be releasing anything for the 4runner?
The wet okole ones just aren't doing it for me although they are nice.

I emailed them today and was told they recently completed a Tacoma model but are looking for seats to measure for a 4runner.

So I guess its in the works but who knows how long that could take...They didn't mention any time frame.

They never did get back to me when I emailed them. I would've donated my seats while I was underway for them to get the dimensions!

Had Clazzio's in my Tundra and found them to be pretty good for the money. E-mailed Clazzio customer support regarding covers for the 5th Gen and was told that they now have them available for 5th Gens with 3 rows. Apparently they are still working on the 2nd row for the 2 row models which is what i have. Said they were "probably a couple months out" on the two row. Hope this is helpful. Fit was good in the Tundra, but the steeper angled bolsters on the front seats of the Runner have me curious as to fit. We shall see.

Not sure as I haven't been in a three row. Would definitely have to operate differently for access to 3rd row and thus likely is designed differently. I am going to follow up with Clazzio again in a few weeks. Seems they are missing out on a lot of sales with the 5th gen with so many on the road.

Ive had wet okale in diff vehicles and they are hands down the best. Custom made and fit the contours of the seat. Well worth the money if you want the best protection.
