seat heater on cloth seats?

So I installed seat heaters under the cloth seats on our 2012 tacoma and found lots of pictures and videos on how to remove seat fabric. I liked it so much I bought some for the 4runner but haven't found any info on anyone doing this for the cloth seats.


Has anyone done or read about removing the cloth fabric to install seat heaters on non leather seats in a 4runner or 1sr gen tacoma?

Good question. I picked up a set of leather seats off CL with the intent of wiring them up with dorman seat heater kits. But that was almost two years ago ,(lol), and I'm still staring at spare seats and seat heater kits. I have highly considered just keeping the cloth sport seats I have now and adding the heaters to them.

I seriously doubt that it would be a bad idea. I say go for it and let me know how it turns out - maybe you'll finally give me the motivation to go one way or the other!

Seat heaters usually top out at 105 degrees (on High), should be safe under any material. :cowboy:

Covers are easy to work on. I would get new hog rings and hog ring pliers make it easier than using any other kind.
Cloth or leather both use hog rings, procedure the same.

I did a super long boring seat re-man a while back. I have also done the same procedure on cloth seats. exactly the same procedure. like others have said. get some hog rings

Supplies? Man, if I walked into an upholstery shop local to me asking to buy supplies, they'd tell me to screw off unless I paid them to do the whole install!

Same I was looking for fabric and 2 shops told me to F off. I can get the hog rings/hardware through work but ended up ordering shit online
