So I have been having some misfire issues with my 4R ever since installing my new ignition coils. I have even posted one or twice about it. Lately I have been trying to learn more about my vehicles, how to be more self sufficient and handle the "smaller things myself." Easy on my Jeep XJ. Bit me a little with my Toyota.
Well after trying every thing I could think of, and still not solving my misfire issue I decided it was time to go and see my mechanic -Dave D'Angelo owner of My Mechanic here in Seattle. I swung in just to ask a question and for his opinion (warning: he does not offer short answers.) as his answer morphed from just plain shooting the $?!t to answer/dissertation he was also topping off my break fluid and plugging in his OBDII. He then gave me a printed out diagram of my cylinders pointing out where each # was located and told that #2 needed more work. Lastly he popped the engine cover, removed my MAF and gave it a thorough cleaning.
When it was time to run I asked him what I owed him -he said nothing. NOTHING. Now I'm not telling you this so that you will expect free service. I am a business owner myself. One of my friends told me a long time ago not to give your work away. But this guy has decided to build a business based on fairness and loyalty. He works on all of our cars and I have really appreciated having a mechanic that I have built a relationship with and feel confident in.
The office is bit of a mess as is the garage. He and his crew do a great job. Dave is a character and I promise you will be glad to know him.
