Still catching up from being gone 7 months and finally saw this, glad to hear its not cancer, sad to hear about SUC, it is pretty rare.

You have to love this forum. It's a place where hardly anyone knows each other, yet they are brought together over their passions in life. In this case 4runners. Seattle Mike sorry to hear of your news.

Also let me know if you cannot find a good home for your puppy. I may be willing to be a last resort (I have an 11 month old yellow lab).

Obviously a lot has changed in Mike's life. With the departure of the dog the storage design has changed a fair bit. starting with two big drawers, then we need to figure out the max trax still.

The drawers willstill bolt to the frame he designed and had built, to allow the stock slide out tray to be used still.

One box, it was build as two units because it wouldnt fit in the back hatch otherwise. the box's will be carpeted and the drawers will be bed linered.

Wow Mike, I hadn't been following this thread and had no idea. Our prayers go out to you and do let us know if there is anything we could do to help in any way. We've bumped heads a couple of times in the past on here but your still like one of the family .I was always right with them too! lol

So... during the search for a local carpenter, I began losing my endurance and developed a dry, non-productive cough. After 25 years of smoking, I just figured I was developing emphysema. Over the span on 8 weeks, it became a cough that eventually left me completely unable to breath or sleep. During a trip to the ER on the 30th of June, a CT scan showed a large volume of fluid had built up around my heart (pericardial effusion) and roughly a liter was drained through a surgical tap. Prior to the procedure, they ran an MRI to get a better look and found a mass behind my breastbone, a mass in my left sinus, swollen lymph nodes everywhere in my torso, and three small masses in my brain. On July 1st they removed a lymph node from my left armpit and determined I had cancer. Pathology on both the fluid and the node returned "negative" for all the usual suspects, I spent a few days in ICU, a couple more in progressive care, and I was finally released 7 days after I had arrived, 2 liters and 20 pounds lighter.

And after nearly 3 weeks of running through tests with negative result after negative result, they did a CT scan of the mass in my sinus and found the culprit: Toxic Snot!!! Technically, I have Sinonasal Undifferentiated Carcinoma. It's rare, it's aggressive, and it's got a huge head start. Needless to say, it changed my plans for the 4Runner.

We're trying to place our puppy with a service dog training organization nearby, because my wife's MS prevents her from being able to handle a 11 month-old 100# Chocolate Labrador. That has been the hardest part about all of this... we love that dog to pieces.

The entire cargo area is being scrapped. The pantry shelf is never going to be finished, and the dog's bunk is also going bye bye. I'll probably end up buying some off-the-shelf thing and make the best of it. The emphasis now is on making it usable for my wife when I go away. We've already donated the tent and awning to java; they camp a lot, I might need some big favors in the next few weeks, and I am happy it will be used by some who will appreciate it. The pantry drawer... I'll figure something out.

So, there you go. For those of you who have subscribed to this thread, thanks... you can unsub now. And to all the people who I have interacted on this forum, even the people I passionately disagreed with, thanks for being here.
