Cruising on a big boat. In fact, Tahiti is just the turn around point... we hit San Diego twice and the Hawaiian Islands, too. Per my battery of doctors, a cruise ship is better for me than direct travel and we managed to book it just in time.

Those round containers, are those Mountain House?

I have a few cases of MRE's and Mountain house dry goods, enough for 4 people to survive on for 30 days. :biggrin2: I keep it in the root cellar nice and cool in case our volcano blows, or earthquakes rattle our cage. (or, if the world goes to hell, and in that case, I have 10,000 rounds of various ammo ;) )

Yep 4 mountain house cans a full size stove and a butt load of mre's in the drivers side drawer.
 
Yeah, we do the doomer thing, too. And after driving nothing but bumpy roads for 90 minutes straight, we didn't get a rattle, a clank, or even a thump from anything in the back. Awesome work.

I'm going to add a pair of Maglite holders (and a Maglite) to the front of the top drawer for a "handle" and then some hooks for the sides of the top box to hold a cargo net for things like jackets and boots and other stuffable items.

However... we forgot to get the antenna inside. :redbrick:
 
Awesome work Java! Question- how tough is that undercoating on the drawers? Does it hold up well without scratching?

Also @ Mike- you may want to check out that Streamlight Survivor light that I installed on Kraeken's 'Runner at the meet. It's always ready and charged in the base, and the light has a twilight mode that will stay lit for 20(?) days. Can't think of a better doomsday light- Kraeken's a Firefighter so he knows what works and what doesn't in demanding conditions.

I saw that light, but we already have two shaker-type lights for emergencies. While the act of charging them may look obscene, they are very effective when charged fully. If anything, I would put a cordless battery charger back there, something like: Ryobi 18V ONE+ or Makita USA - Accessory Details - LXT Lithium-Ion optimum charging system or DCB119 12V MAX* - 20V MAX* Lithium Ion Vehicle Battery Charger | DEWALT Tools . I have a spare Maglite, and hiding somewhere in the garage is a set of the clips to hold it, so it seemed like a good way to put them to use.

Java really outdid himself on this. The total amount of stuff in these three boxes is just amazing. Propane 3 burner stove, 4 cans of staples from Mountain House, a dozen or more MREs with heating trays, a full ARB recovery kit, a 4' hi-lift jack, a offroad shoe for the jack, two Maxtrax, a CB antenna, a full set of woodland tools (axe, saws, etc.), roadside emergency kit, umbrella, 2 bright yellow reflective ponchos, and a handy shaker siphon. I'm forgetting things, but still... it's a pretty impressive list

All we need now is a bumper (waiting on feedback from people who bought the Shrockworks bumper), a winch, and a dual battery set-up, and a custom 2.0 kit from Overland Warehouse. Then I think Shinju will be able to get us out of just about anything but a flood. Where the hell are our snorkles? :crybaby:

I used it on the top of my personal storage box in my truck. It had bricks flagstone and all my construction tools in n out of it for a couple of years. It's scratched a bit but nothing major just kind of dulls the finish. The back edge where it's on the corner of the plywood has chipped off a bit though with things being dragged over it.

It's dupli color truck bed coating it comes in a blue spray can. I like it because it doesn't have the standard truck bed liner texture it's much more smooth
 
That looks like the box I made....except this is better made, cleaner, bigger, and more user friendly. But other than that, its just like mine.:lol:

But seriously, nice work. I love the top addition a lot!

The way I see it, you'll shoot a few people and the rest will leave........OR.......they will rush you and get you when you are reloading.

So, you only really need about 20-30 rounds tops. lol
 
:offtopic:I'm going to be gone for a while, to places where access to the internet is cost prohibitive and they bring me breakfast.
