Second update: Bfg t/a ko2 now gone

I've tried many tires and you can't compare 50k tire to new. New tires ride nice.. no news there. Wet traction of the BGFs is spooky and I will never buy another pair for this reason although I like the tires besides that. They also perform pretty poorly in offroad conditions compared to the duratracks, but overall a decent tire.

I've run BFG All Terrains since the late 80's with nothing but good results overall. However, I decided to try the DuraTracs on my 2010 Trail a few years back. I bailed on the Duratracs because the sidewalls are cheesecloth. I bought 4 tires, and had to replace 2 of them due to failure. They can't handle the volcanic basalt in the Cascades. The KO2s have real 3 ply sidewalls.

Neither of these tires have great traction in Portland's rain. No proper offroad oriented tire does IMO.

One note I've learned with my still relatively low mileage KO2s is to cross rotate them. They developed a humm at about 40 MPH after the first rotation from the unavoidable cupping I get due to living in very steep and twisty hills. When I cross rotated, the humm slowly went away. (and yes, I regularly have alignments done. Thats not the cause. It's turning the wheels constantly thru the corners on a body on frame heavy piece of steel...)

Who the hell keeps ANY tire for more than 40k miles? That is ridiculous. I have never kept any tire for more than 30k miles.

Man I had a set of BFG A/T KOs on my pickup for, not shitting you, 75K. Scouts honor. I put them on right at 170,000 and just changed them at 248,000ish. Granted they were absolutely done as far as tread was concerned, but they still held air. lol

In the process of selling my 275 ko2's for some lighter p-rated AT tires.

Even though they are excellent for anything off road as well as deep snow, I simply don't really go off roading enough to need such thick & heavy tires, and they KILL my mpg on the highway.

I've seen many people here complain about wet traction, please let us know how's KO2 comparing to Duratracs when it;'s raining.

The duratracs are 100x's better than the KO2's in rain, snow, and ice. It's not even close. I can't believe it when I see people writing that the KO2's have great traction. I really don't get it. I just 'gave away' my KO2's and went back to duratracs. KO's were the absolute scariest tire that I have ever owned. I wrote on another thread about this. The KO2's were awesome on gravel and dirt but that was it. Don't buy the KO's or you will regret it. Buy anything else!

And based on my experience with the KO2 I'm at the point where I roll my eyes and immediately dismiss anyone who says they're "scary" or "dangerous" on the highway. Their performance over tens of thousands of miles driven, a great many in ridiculous rain, and a Canadian winter say I'd regret buying anything else.

I have had BFG's since they came out around 80' I think........ 78 Toyota SR-5, 67 Chevy 3/4, 83 Toy 4x4, 2000 Durango 4x4, 89 4Runner, 2006 Unlimited Rubi to name a few that ran them........never had a defect and they are TOUGH out in the Desert and in the extreme temps We get out here in Lower Hell! Overall the best tire on the whole I have ever tried so I stick with them. I also run the Mud-Terrains and they are actually my favorite for Off-Road. The 83' Mule is on it's 5th set.......
