Security camera?

so lately there have been reports of tire slashings and cars being keyed in my apartment complex. i havnt been a victim yet, and i hope i wont be. it sucks cause i live in one of the "nicer" parts of town... if theres a such thing in tucson.

anyway, does anyone have these in thier vehicle? i am wanting somthing to record overnight and will loop like every 10 hours or something.

any suggestions? i have done my research, but i thought i would jump on here before i made a purchase.

but i feel it doesnt have a wide enough viewing angle. and i would have to do the cig lighter always on mod. but would be worth it if its a decent camera.

also, im not a fan of the night leds on, id rather have night vision. but, i am just looking for your opinions on this, and if its even worth it. thanks

what would you do with the footage that is recorded?
just stay parked in well lit areas close to high traffic either foot or vehicle
its a shame people do that stuff, damaging other peoples property.

well if anything were to happen the runner, i would have footage of the perp.

right. but what would you do with the footage beyond that? turn to the police or?

turn it over to the police, post pictures of him/her around the apartments, see if they are a resident, keep an eye out for that particular individual.

its also a deterrent. they see a camera filming them then hopefully they wont do anything.

I would venture a guess that such a camera would actually attract a thief to breaking in.

Perhaps if you organize your neighbors a bit, you can come up with a schedule of when people come and go. Trade phone numbers and/or email addresses so each person can update. Your local police might be willing to make more frequent "sweeps" of the area or give you suggestions to deter this kind of stuff.

Ultimately you can't stop idiots from being idiots-so I would also drop your comprehensive insurance deductible to $0 for a while, until these incidents seem to have moved out of your area. That will practically guarantee that nothing will happen to you, and if it does you will not be out of pocket any more cash than the slight increase in your premium.
