Shifter bushings - effects?

Hey Guys -

Noticing some slop in my 97's shifter. Pretty sure the shifter bushings need to be replaced. I'm away from my home base and it may be a bit before I can get to changing them out.

Other than the sloppy shifter feel - will the truck suffer any other consequences of not replacing them right away...?

Uhhh, auto or manual?

On a manual, those boxes are fairly bulletptoof. People run them really sloppy and it doesn't hurt them. Don't know about slushboxes, but I doubt it makes much difference there, either.
