Shipping 4 Wheels from Seattle WA to ME -help

Scored some awesome TRD OffRoad wheels but now I need help with shipping West coast to East cost
4 complete (mounted & deflated) wheels - no sensors

Ideally somebody would pick them up from the seller's residence and ship them to where I work (business).

My head is spinning: liftgate, palletizing, density ... "we don't offer this or that"

quotes I got were all over the place - anywhere from 150 to 800

Help is very much Needed & Appreciated

Remove the tires, buy some moving boxes from an office supply store take them to Fedex.

I can't - I am 3K miles away

The seller doesn't want to deal with this - and can't blame him - they are extremely heavy

70 pounds each I believe - for a total of 280#s

I would call UPS. They constantly ship tires and wheels all over the country, and they do not need to be boxed. Give them the weight of one wheel/tire, and figure to ship each wheel/tire as a separate item. They should be able to give you the cost, per item, to ship them from there to you. If you pre-pay the shipping costs, and request pick-up at the sellers house, all the seller would have to do is fix the shipping labels to each tire/wheel set before UPS picks them up. Where I work, a dealership, all they do is print the shipping labels, and attach them to each wheel/tire by using clear shipping tape wrapped around the outer side of the tire and in between one of the holes in the wheels. We do 4-5 wraps to make sure the shipping label stays in place. You could print the shipping labels and send them to the seller so he/she can attach them to the wheels. Once he is ready, he can call UPS to schedule the pick-up. UPS can explain to you how it needs to be done.

Get cardboard and heavy duty plastic wrap, the type used for wrapping items on pallets. Put a piece of cardboard on either side of the whell and wrap the crap out of each wheel. Drop off at UPS and off they go! Wheels are protected by the tire and cardboard

You can also look into shipping via Greyhound. They offer bulk item shipping for pretty reasonable prices. Probably be less than $300 in shipping if I had to guess.

Last time I shipped wheels to myself (winter set during a move), I covered both sides of the wheels with some foam and cardboard, then wrapped them with large cellophane from Home Depot. Shipped via FedEx for about $200 from Montana to Boston (wheels were 50# each, if you sign up for a FedEx account you get 10% off all shipments). The seller may just need to buck up and help you out a bit. Price to pay for selling something to someone on the other side of the country. If he didn't want to deal, he should have waited for a local buyer!

Late to the party, but try Fastenal - they do store to store shipping for large items. I've heard from the LC guys that they're very reasonably priced.

I second fastenal. I’ve used them to ship wheels and tires before. They typically have pallets there and just band them down.
