Shock Information for 3rd gens-stock and lifted

Howdy y'all,
After spending a couple days scouring the net for some shock information, I thought maybe it would be beneficial to have a thread with just shock absorber information. Anyone who has parts or information to add, please comment and I'll keep this first post updated.

How shocks are measured:

Stock Front-
These pair great with new 99 tall springs (Moog 81088 is a good cheap option)

Notes: Fits "0-2.3" lift". Has 4 clip grooves. Offers up to 2.3" lift on top setting with factory height spring. If you use a lift spring, the lift will be generated at the lowest clip, but can be raised for additional lift and firmness.

Notes: Originally built and valved for the Tacoma, Bilstein now claims that these should not be used for the 4Runner, because they offer the 24-248730 shock specifically for the 4runner. I have these on my 4Runner and they work great.

Notes: Bilstein states that these are for 0-2.3" lift with the supplied coils. These include 600LB rate coils. Numerous clip grooves for fine tuning.

Notes: Specifically designed for the tundra, the lower eye is 14.4mm vs the 4Runner 14.2mm Eye. The lower bushing may need to be changed out, but should work as long as the bolt is sufficiently tight. 4 clip grooves

Notes: For "0-2 Inch Lift" definitely not be used beyond 2" of lift as it is barely longer than the stock shock.

Notes: Tundra Bilstein 5100 shock (24-100144) with a different lower bushing to fit the 4Runner. This shock is suited for 3"+ lift and is very soft and will bounce a lot with extra weight in the back.

Approx cost: $45-55/ea
Notes: Will need 3/4" Fender washers or correct Land Cruiser bushing washers (90948-02144 x4) and you will need to reuse or order the centering washer from the 4Runner (90948-02119 x2). These ride very firm and should be used with lots of weight in the back or it will be a very stiff ride.

Toyota Land Cruiser 100 Series Shock 48531-69557

Approx cost: $25-35/ea
Notes: These are not a direct fit.
These are super cheap. In theory it should be fine and be a little softer than the 80 series.
Will need 3/4" Fender washers or correct Land Cruiser bushing washers (90948-02144 x4) and you will need to reuse or order the centering washer from the 4Runner (90948-02119 x2).
You will also need to press out the eye bushing and use the OE-style bushings for the lower eye.

Great post, bud. With regards to the Moog 99 talls; the fronts are fantastic and a great option, but the rears sag with almost any weight on them. I imagine this is true for the OEM rear 99 talls as well. As an alternative, I highly recommend pairing the Moog 99 talls with the 906s.

Would this put it to original stock height or slightly taller? I'm looking for an inch or two lift, nothing too crazy as its a daily driver.

Just wanted to point out that these shocks do not come with lower eye bushings or any washers for the top (as I found out today when mine arrived). Looking at the parts diagram I can clearly see now that they are not included in that part number, I missed that. Only a top nut and 2 top rubbers were included.

Not complaining, the parts are cheap and I'm in no rush. Just FYI.
