So for the past couple of months as I posted in a thread a while back my 2004 4Runner has been occasionally rough starting and throwing the check engine light.
The check engine light is always a cylinder 6 misfire.
I've changed the plug and swapped the coil back and that hasn't changed anything. The plug is always dry when I remove it and I'm not losing any coolant, blowing smoke or getting any temp variations so I don't believe I have a head gasket problem. The first time I looked at the plug it looked fouled, however I looked at it again this weekend and it looks like its running lean.
Tonight I threw the code and I was able to watch view the engine stats with the new scanner I bought. Everything looks ok except the fuel trim values.
At idle the short term fuel trim values for each bank basically track each other. The freeze data when the code was thrown also shows they were the same (0.8)
However the long term fuel trim values are always different at idle and at the freeze data. Bank 1 was 2.3 and bank 2 was 7.8. All this is leading me to believe I have a fueling problem, likely a clogged injector.
Any other thoughts? I guess I'll head to the auto parts store to get some injector cleaner as my next course of action.
