Should I Start a Build Guide?

Hey Guys,

I'm a pretty new guy to the car modding world, but I'm pumped and ready to start! I recently bought my first car, a 2002 4runner SR5 with 142k miles on it, and within a month I've already redone the audio system. As I've been spending tons of time on this forum searching for ideas for mods, I've noticed a few that I'm positive that I HAVE TO DO.

I'm looking forwards to building up my 4Runner with tons of pictures throughout the build, though it will be with many miles in between due to my slim budget.

As I said before, I'm inexperienced, but spending every waking hour learning the ins and outs of the car.

Mods I'm looking at doing soon:
-Tundra Brakes
-Plasti Dip Emblems
-Roof Rack
-Satoshi Grille

Mods that I would love to do, but restrained because of my budget:
-Supercharger and Methanol Injection
-Suspension and Coil overs
-TRD Wheels
-BF Goodrich AT Tires
-ARB Bumper and Lights
-HALO lights
-Magnaflow Cat Back Exhaust

You guys are the decision makers, should I start a build guide? Or not.

Hello [MENTION=124382]Saintnick[/MENTION], Welcome aboard! And I must say I myself made this selection for my first vehicle as well! (your's is considerably nicer than mine was tho...)

I personally will never encourage someone not to start a build, the more information out there the better in my opinion. As well as the fact that everyone has to start from somewhere. So don't look at it like you "won't" compare or "can't" compare to what is currently going on with some runners because some builds are as old as the runner itself. Many of us never will compare but the truth of the matter is you can still enrich the community in some way or another.

My main key tip is to stay detailed in your work and as updated as possible. You mas also want to include some wheeling trips or links to albums to keep things lively even when your not changing stuff on the vehicle. Write up's are almost always helpful but can occasionally be more confusing than informative. You can help a lot, with just a little. You have a solid beginning to your list of mods and as with all of us, it will only expand from there.

Either way man, enjoy the wonderful vehicle you've purchased and give a look at the common fail points and maintenance issues to be well informed and make responsible decisions with your runners upkeep! Cheers!

I've been cleaning up the truck maintenance wise for the past couple weeks. It still needs a new driver side door actuator, and o2 sensor for the bay1 exhaust manifold. My rotors and brakes are in horrific condition, leaving me struggling to stop at a good distance when they get warm, due to warping and use.

My Tundra parts just arrived at my door today, picked up the rebuilt calipers at Napa yesterday, and then I'll be waiting on the time to install. Which hopefully will be tomorrow.

I'll definitely take TONS of pictures during this process and document it to maybe post on youtube as well. I'm a big fan of photography so I'll also try to take some wallpaper worthy shots of desert offroading.

That's awesome! I love desert shots since I don't have much of that in GA...

within a month I've already redone the audio system.

Btw I'd love to see info on your setup here, there's really not a whole lot of good stuff out there for a full sound system since most people throw in an sub and call it a day. I'm considering redoing my sound system before I start making the 8 hour drive to college a few times a year.
