Should the climate control be backlit?

Have seen several threads here about dash lights going out, etc. I just got done installing a new head unit and its one that lets you choose the diplay color to best match the interior lighting. As i was adjusting it, in the dark with the dash lights on, it occurred to me that the climate control display does not light up. The buttons around it do but the lcd display itself does not. Is that normal or do i have a light out?

Well wait till tomorrow. I also have a red and blue HU coming and I am under the same dilemma. I got a cheap kenwood deck since it was the only one I could find that didnt have chrome dials on it and does USB and ipod, all I really need.

I am thinking red dials and blue backlighting for the climate.

I am swapping out the green for red now that I got the red films from gottabtrd and I can change my clock to red.

Anyway... I'll take a pic of a red backlit climate tomorrow.

red climate, during the day, full dimmer. Its going to be plenty bright enough.

When I get my climate control rebuilt next spring I will have them change the button LEDs from yellow/grn to amber.

Here is a night shot w/ my HU and new gauge installed. I didnt put it all back together since I am going to polish my clock and cluster face.
