Many come with Velcro attached already, so you can just attach it to the headliner. Some are the "iron-on" variety and you need to put your own Velcro on. I use 3/4" Velcro Tape

I am able to open the sun roof with the patches (I just go slow so I don't rip one off), however I never use it. I definitely don't now, since my tent covers the sunroof. Rear window rolled down is all I need!
