Shrockworks rear bumper done

Been excited about this install for some time and very happy with the final results. I ordered it in bare metal and dropped it off at Linex for coating with the Platinum liner,, good stuff, looks bullet proof.
The install went fairly well, a couple of shims didn't make the shipment so I had to fab 'em up, and the Linex thickness made for a bit of persuasion when installing the hitch. I still want to clean up the plastic molding trim pieces a bit.
The build of the bumper is excellent, super quality work and I really like the tight lines of the Shrockworks product. Very solid build.

I like that it's a clean design, and like you said, the fact that it fits so tight is a big plus. A lot of the other options out there look so clunky.

Is there any functional difference regarding the hitch vs the stock hitch? The stock hitch is just a four-bolt add-on anyway, right?

What kind of mudflaps do you have? I still haven't taken care of that...

They are RockBlokz standard size flaps. Had to drill a couple of holes in the bumper to install using self tapping screws and also fab a small bracket for the inside mount point. Also used a heat gun to shape them around the bumper.

More ground clearance and it seems a bit stouter. A bit more effort required to get the pin in.

good call on the linex platinum

I used linex on truck bumpers in the past, and it was the most durable coating I have ever seen. The linex platinum looks outstanding, and it looks like you'll avoid the dirt-holding capacity of regular linex.

Nope, have to use the Shrockworks receiver.

Forgot to mention. Found the best/easiest/most accurate way to cut the plastic was to use a jig saw with a metal cutting blade and set it to slow speed. Super easy to control for accurate cut. And for the tight corners, warmed up the plastic with a heat gun and used a razor knife to slice and dice, worked like a champ.

Bumper looks great!!! I've been trying to hold off on a rear bumper but most likely going Shrockworks if (when) I do. It also appears like they updated the bumper a bit too. I remember the earlier versions had a large gap between the plastic trim around the cargo area/striker latch and the bumper itself. Now it looks like they made it a lot tighter to the body and it looks much better.

Looks great! I appreciate the top-down pics with the door open as I've heard about the big gap into the cargo area too.
Are you still carrying your spare tire underneath? How does that look with the new bumper and added clearance?
I've got a front Shrockworks bumper and want to get a rear, but the gap and spare tire underneath have made me hesitant.

I just ordered mine, also without the tire carrier. You have to be honest with yourself about what you are using your 4Runner for most of the time and what your future mods will be. I drive mine everywhere and can’t see myself constantly unlatching the rear tire carrier just to get to the back. Do I wheel every weekend? No, even when I try to get all my buddies together to go hit up a local trail they bail on me. I can live without the tire carrier. Maybe someone with a tire carrier can chime in.
