simple sleep platform for my 4runner

When I was doing some very basic measurements, it quickly became obvious that I'd need to power slide the front seats as forward as they can go in order to get max platform space for my 6' carcass so now I'm working on ideas to make the platform telescope froward to gain max sleeping space then retract when it's time to move again.

Maybe make the last section fold?

LOL. There's not a lot of whitewater around here so the majority of our floats are pretty flat. There was a lot of rain and the river was up. I had a blast attempting it and actually made it through this rapid two days later unscathed. We just started kayaking last summer. We're going to try to test the limits of our gear and bodies this summer. Next weekend my buddy and I are heading to western NC and hoping to do Section 9 of the French Broad (i'll probably rent a ww kayak). The end of June we head to Fort Payne, Al/Desoto State Park for the Little River Canyon.

I've heard there's some classic whitewater runs out around NC. My buddies have been talking about making a trip out there someday.

If you bulk up the hip padding and get in those flatwater boats tight enough you should be able to roll them no problem. But you should definitely rent a whitewater kayak and try it out. So much fun.

I was able to lock in pretty well in this one (Swifty 9.5(old model)) without any padding and i have the bruises to prove it. Ha! When I flipped in the pic I posted, I stayed in, skirt held tight, I just didn't know "the mechanics" of getting back over. I desperately need some pool time to work on it. I just hate I waited so late in life to start. Acting half my age on the river makes me feel twice as old when we're done! Worth it.
