Simple+Strong Stainless CB Antenna Mount

I had a buddy of mine make me this simple and extremely strong CB antenna mount. It is 1/8th inch stainless steel with mounting holes and the antenna hole. I like it because it clears the tailgate when it is opened. Being stainless, I don’t have to worry about painting it or rust. He said if anyone on T4R wants one, he can make it and sell it for $25+mailing. Pretty cheap for something so strong and practical! I'm sure if he gets some interest and can make it in quantity, he will cut us all a break. (The photos are for a driver's side, rear mount.) It mount’s under the taillight on the inside of the tailgate….

Just be careful to not get too close to other peoples designs. You should also let potential buyers know that they'll have to drill a hole in the body to use all three of those mounting points.

It might just be me, but I think you'll need to drill 3 holes for that. The mounting portion doesn't look anywhere near long enough to reach.

Second the photos of it installed. I am not a fan of drilling holes onto the cars exterior. If this ends up working with existing locations I am all over it.

These mount to existing locations on both the driver and passenger side. This is the original mount for that area.

Thank you. I am aware of those. But I'm a college student paying for everything on my own. And with that I'm priced out of that mount. It's more expensive then my CB.

Obviously you've made multiple types of mounts. I don't see this as being anywhere close to what you've done since yours are fully boxed. Not to mention there's only so many ways you can mount an antenna, and I highly doubt there's any patents out right now for something as simple as a bent piece of metal with some holes in it.

Unless gobi bent that metal or drilled those holes. Nice mount btw.

Hey Everyone. Thanks for the interest. Here is a summary of answers to the many questions.

1. "Photos of mounting": have not done this yet. My buddy cranked out my idea quickly. I will mount it this weekend and send/post photos.

2. As far as "proprietary design" this is a SIMPLE bracket and the stainless is rigid enough you do not need all that fancy cut out of logos and supports. You can paint it or leave it stainless - your choice. (Not knocking the "logos and supports" but I am a simple man....)

3. Lack of response: In 36 hours, my 6 year old cell phone died (will not charge), due to road construction all internet is out and my 13 year old beloved Windows XP system kicked the dust. (I am using a friend's system to write this!)

4. Final note: Not looking to make $$$$ on this. It is a simple, stainless steel, practical mount and INEXPENSIVE. Just trying to help folks out here. If you liker it - then great. If not, no worries.

If you want one of these (after I post picks and all that stuff) let me know. This is not a group buy per say. Just some off-road enthusiasts who have the equipment/design knowledge/material to make SH!T work! (LOL)
 
As far as mounting holes, there are ZERO holes on our original OEM vehicles for this. When I mount it, I am pre-filling the small holes (for metal screws) with black silicone sealant to prevent rust. The three small holes will be insignificant for me below the left brake light assembly and behind the tailgate. If I decide to take it off, I just put a thimble full or more black silicone sealant in the holes....
 
Is your buddy still making these? I just bought a firestik mount but it's drivers side and I wanted to mount it on the passengers side. Also like how this looks better.

Still game?
