So it's a knock off of the Fram sure drain...
I'll stick with the Fumoto Valve. Less pieces to lose, and I can still drain the oil without a separate tube.

I installed a ValvoMax on my 2005 4runner about 3 months ago and so far so good with me.
I don't have any experience with Fumoto or Fram drains but the ValvoMax installed sits above the skid plate bottom so I like that it won't get bumped easily unless an obstruction happens to be pushed down by the skid plate first, then pops up and hits the valve in the skid plate opening.
I also like that I can direct the flow right into a collection jug with the included hose or add some extra hose if I need to go longer. The Fumoto doesn't easily allow this BUT the Fumoto does not require a screw on adapter to drain that could get lost, like the ValvoMax does.
The machining on the Valvomax is quality work but I had to laugh when the directions stated to use a torque wrench to install....the problem being that when the dust cap is removed the corresponding threads are larger than the 15/16" hex that sits below them to allow a deep well socket to be used. I had to use an open end wrench to install. If I wanted to get a true 90 orientation to the hex, it would have required me to remove my skid plate. Therefore, the long 15/16" wrench had to be at angle to connect. There are open end torque wrenches but they are very rare in comparison to standard ones with 3/8" or 1/2" ratcheting drives used for sockets that a lot of folks have in their toolboxes.
The valve likely starts as a large length of 15/16" stainless hex stock then machined down to final size (acme screw machine with bar stock feeder if I had to guess.) Stainless was quality grade with no magnetic attraction.
Anyone know how far the Fumoto sticks out from the pan?
For the record, I have no affiliation with any of the above companies or products....just relaying my experience for the group.

The Fumoto doesn’t go below the skid plate if that’s what you mean, at least the F103S on my ‘07 V6 doesn’t.

What would be nice is, if the 4runner had the oil filter up top, in the engine bay, upside down like the BMW. Open the hood, unscrew the filter,no dripping, no mess, waist level, in the front of the engine bay. No messy paper core either.

4th gen V6 4runner engines have exactly what you describe for the filter.

Same as the FJ Cruiser. I do miss that design. Not sure what Toyota was thinking with the current configuration (maybe they want you to go to the dealership). I am not impressed with my local dealership and won't be taking my 4R back there.

I prefer the suction type devices. I stick a tube down the dipstick hole and vacuum the oil out. No need to get on the ground, pull the skid plate etc. Faster and cleaner. A good setup is only about $60.
The early FJ Cruisers may be that way- my 2011 certainly isn't- same PITA filter design as my 2019 4R. At least I only have to keep one type of filter on hand for both.
