Skid plate bolt screw up

So I messed this up pretty good. The front right bolt sheared off at the head. No worries I thought, I'll just use my extractor set. Drilled out a hole and went to use the extractor. It grabbed like it should but my drill didn't have the power to turn it. So I rigged a wrench on and gave it some force. The extractor bit broke off with the top part stuck in. Hardly any material sticking out to try to remove it. Any suggestions on how to extract the extractor? Or even just relocating that bolt?

You probably will need to drill it out. I would use a cobalt drill bit. Make sure you keep it well cooled and lubricated when drilling.

Other choice would be to weld a nut on top of the broken bolt shaft and use an impact gun with lots of PB or Kroil.

I did the same exact thing. I cut the broken bolt out of the lower rad support and welded in a nut. Now its bigger and better and plan on doing that to all the skid bolts/ nuts that seize up

Curious to see how some of you fix this. My 5th gen had one sheared off during dealer oil change. So I've been looking how to get it out also.

If the dealer sheared off a bolt on my truck during an oil change you better believe that they'd be fixing it. Are they refusing to make it right?

Found 5 broken bolts on various skid plates on mine (okay I broke one). Ended up drilling them all out and chasing all the threads with an m8 tap. The front two I had to drill and tap out to m10 because they had been tapped out m8 before and didn't have much of the threads left.

Lots to be said for a glob of anti-sieze each time when replacing those bolts.
