Skid plates for REAR bumpers?

I have seen one picture of something close to what I am imagining.
I am trying to draw up plans to maybe fab something that could bolt on to a rear tube bumper. The idea is: Rear mounted winch hidden under the AOR tube bumper. With that constructing a compact bolt on (removeable) rear skid that will protect the winch. I also need to find a place to add a fairlead mount with room under the AOR bumper... Any ideas, is it possible?

The Idea is a fairlead under the hitch with enough space or even tucked a bit behind it, the fairlead mounted somewhat angled on a piece of 3/16 plate that serves as a skid as well.

Of course it is possible. You would be giving up departure angle, which may or may not be important to you. For me it's a deal breaker!

Your best bet would be a 4,000lbs winch with synthetic line and a hawse fair lead mounted at an ange under the hitch. This would hardly hang down and with a snatch lock could pull two of your trucks.

I must say I did think of that but, at the same time the skid would only be sectional, to cover the center section of the bumper. It couldn't be much worse than this.

Well considering that's my truck. There no way you will fit a full size winch between that lower tube and the truck body itself. You'd need to drop it another 3 or 4 inches And give up the receiver tube.

Would you really need to give up the reciever? Badlands kept it on their bumpers. Adding a tire carrier would be pretty straightforward here!

You would just have to adjust it. Either higher or lower. To put a winch on my bumper I would have to cut it out. Or do heavy remodeling

I hear ya on that, I personally want a full tube bumper and just today found the badlands bumper. I'm probably going to end up getting their bumper

I'd like to suggest my own take on this... I really like to have as much departure angle as possible. A receiver needs to be centered, for towing purposes. I would mount the winch deeper behind the bumper, where the spare tire normally sits. Also, I would mount it offset from the center, with the fairlead off-center too. Then, I'd have the winch line coming out to the side of the receiver, and no ground clearance would be lost
