Skidplate and Sliders - LineX ?'s

Hi, I am taking my Budbuilt skidplate and Stubbs HD-SKO sliders to the LineX shop in town next week to have them sprayed. They said it would be 8.50 to 9.50 a square foot and they would have to see them to actually give me an estimate. Has anyone else had items sprayed? How did you like the LineX? How much did you pay? And finally, anything I should know before I go there to have them done? Thanks everyone. David

I would consider what you're suggesting. I like the idea a lot.:bigok:

I would also consider a DIY. The Duplicolor aerosol does an amazingly good job. I have used it for many things over the years including my skids (albeit wimpy stock skids). It's durable and touch up is a breeze. Normally 'rattle-canning' new, cool stuff isn't cool. I wouldn't hesitate to use the Duplicolor spay on skids or sliders.

you want to LineX skidplates and sliders? why ??? if you ever go wheeling, that will NOT hold up to rocks, or so Ive been told.
not trying to be a jerk, but I dont think its worth the money, just rattle can it and call it good.

Thanks guys, I am reconsidering doing it in Hammerite, POR-15, or a cheaper paint.
Any tips on painting or ideas about which to use?

Doesn't Line X create more friction??

With a skidplate or slider, you want it to be SMOOTH so that it can glide over a rock. You don't want sparks to fly everytime that you slide across a rock!

For me, powder coating first and then rattle can for touchup.

Exactly correct !! Line X will rip off .

Powder coat and can for touch up's , if your doing it for show then thats different.

So...I got my sliders, primed em, spray painted em, thought that was the consensus. Now I'm researching wondering if anyone has every used clear coat on them and I see more recommendations than before to powdercoat them first... I've already spent 35 bucks on all my primer and paint and don't really want to pay another 100 to PC them, but I also want them to hold up, especially since I only offroad a few times a year at this point.

Will I experience rusting and flaking with normal road use with just a standard spray paint job? If not, will a clear coat help- is there spray paint clear coat- what will it do to appearance?

Or should I suck it up and spend 100+ to PC it and have it done right and just touch up with spray or w/e as needed?
