Skipping 2000 Limited deck

My deck has semi-recently started skipping near track 8,9,10 area on CD's. And once it starts, it won't stop no matter where you're at. And it's much worse when moving. I've heard of this problem seemingly after 2001?

I have reason to believe this could be simply due to a dirty lens, but I thought I would check here before I tried popping a cleaning CD in there (which may or may not do anything anyway)

On my '98 sr5 my cassette player skips without playing at all might be the same fix to both problems?

I think in your case it would just be a dirty head I would assume. There's probably a similar fix, yeah.

Dirty head you say? Is there a way to simply just clean it?

a Q-Tip with de-natured alcohol.

Gently wipe the head vertically (going with the line in the middle)
