Sleeping platform w/3rd row seats

Has anyone built a low sleeping platform with 3rd row seats?
I'm looking at options but it would be helpful if someone has tackled this one.

Not yet, but sometime in the next year I'm going to make some time to build something... I think the trickiest part might be coming up with sturdy anchor points to the body instead of all the movable 3rd row parts.

Wouldn't the 3rd row be one of the easier ones to make a platform for? It is at least completely flat when all the seats are stowed... unlike my 2 row, no sliding platform Trail.

Unfortunately no it is angled down toward the rear of the car a little. I made a storage platform over mine out of aluminum. As far as an anchor, there are 4 tie down spots in the back that can be removed to reveal 4 m8 threads. I used these to bolt down my storage system. I'm sure you could make that work for a sleeping platform.

I do not have a third row... however.... this would likely work for you. I bought a "Truck Bedz" air mattress from Amazon. It's designed to fit around the wheel wells. Blow it up, them let out just enough air to shut the hatch. Crawl in through the side door. Best night of sleep I've ever had. It resolves the issue of having a hump on the floor.

You have to see the uneven and slanted surface to understand what I am talking about. It's not an easy fix and I was hoping that someone had already done this.

I've slept on that many times, a foam pad folded in half in the cargo area with a thermarest on top, done. :clap2:

My current setup is for my fridge slide but has a 3/4" plywood base which levels it out nicely. You could see in my build thread in sig, a few pages from end.

I sleep really well though, so might not work if you are a light sleeper. :yawn:

I saw your thread and I can see what you did. The panel on the back looks like it might help but I'm not sure it will level it out enough for me.

Thx. If leveling with the lowest part of seat won't work I think you pretty much need a full platform with the angle of the second row folded the way it is. Someone made a foldable solution but I like to be able to sit up and it looked too claustrophobic for my tastes as it was raised off the floor a few inches at least.
