Sliders -- 3rd Generation

Ok, I have searched and searched to the point of being more confused then when I started. Have some questions about Rocky Road SuperSliders vs SHRockWorks sliders.

First I have decided I wanted a bolt-on vice welded slider.

I have the black fender flares with mudflaps, will the sliders fit in between or will I need to remove the front flaps? I know this seems like an odd question since if the slider gets used off road the flap is probably destroyed. While I intend to do my fair share of off roading I am not a big fan of rock crawling and would like the “insurance” offered by a slider vice the nerf bars I currently have.

Does anyone have pictures of either the Rocky Road or SHRockWorks with this setup?

Heard that powdercoated sliders can’t be touched up and it’s best to just go bare steel and use hammerlite spray paint.

Also heard widely varying reviews on Customer Service for both companies...what is the consensus?

While I don't see myself getting into more extreme adventures where rock crawling is the main event I don't want to be limited as I am just now breaking into this hobby after years of waiting.

I think my sig should have all the relevant info, but if more is needed let me know. New to all this, been browsing for weeks.

I have Rocky Road supersliders. They will not fit with the front mud guards in place. You also have to notch the front inside part of the REAR fender trim. However, once they are installed, they look really nice and completely protect the rocker.

I keep thinking I'm going to keep my sliders and re-install them...but maybe it's time I just let them go. You want mine? PM me if your interested.

why do so many prefer bolt on vs weld? I understand that you can take them off if need be, but what else?

For me it is strickly for the ability to take them off if necessary easily. My welding skills = zero

I like bolt on vs weld on because I change my mind too much. If I put sliders on my Runner & then decided to put a body lift on, unbolting them is much easier IMO than "un-welding" them. Of course I could leave them in the original location, but it would somwhat defeat the purpose of having the BL installed if I left the sliders hanging low. Just my 0.02...

Take a look at Stubbs -Stubbs Welding
Sounds like you have the same flares/flaps as I do. He will build them to fit without cutting/removing the front flaps if you want.

Weld 'em on if you expect them to really do their job and remain attached.
I finally got around to installing mine over the weekend. It's not a big deal to do.
