Sliding tray attachment points

Has anyone tried using something like this on the sliding tray to add some attachment points?

I thought these could be attached with epoxy and screws to the bottom of the tray and then find some nice grommets for the top of the tray. This should allow for some fairly strong threaded holes that can be used for attachment points.
