Snorkel 06 4runner

So I just ordered a snorkel kit for a tlc80. Heard rumors that it will fit, with modification of course, and will be documenting my experience. I've seen people use tacoma, hilux 167, and a few other kits. This one was only $69 bucks so I won't be to bad off if I mess it up.

For $70 if you are willing to do the work to try it out, seems like it's worth a shot. Definitely intetested in finding out how it goes.

4runner is an 06 4.7 sr5. 3 inch strut spacers up front and 2 inch in the rear, bull bar, 23 inch led bar, tail light guards. Just got it. It's my first yota been a jeep cherokee guy til now. Only thing that sucks is the head room. Not meant for someone over 6ft.

You know if you push the long flat adjustment button down, the seat lowers. It seems like there's plenty of head room. But, what do I know, I'm only 5'9, but I have to raise it quite a bit.

Ya headroom sucks.

Really? That's what that button does. NFS. It is all the way down and the seat is reclined also. But any bumps and my head hits the roof.

Snorkel kit comes in tomorrow. Hope I can make it work. We shall see.

Like me, you've got a sunroof. You lost 2" of head room with that. I have the same headroom problem. 2007 v8 limited.

My favorite feature of the Lexus brother is the headroom.

So far looks like the tlc80 snorkel will work. Just going to have to trim the top part of the passenger fender flare.

So it's on now. Looks great. Fitment is almost perfect. Used a 3.5 inch plug jack to drill l the hole for the intake. Man just getting the fender flare off and the liner was a pain in the ass. Fml.

I like it. How much of the fender flare did you have to trim?

A little less then 1/2 inch.

Does this sit higher then the roof line or lower? I can't tell from the pictures.

I rotated the two Pics. Good Job! Is this for high water crossings? If so, do you fear any damages to you hot engine and parts from making contact with the water? Thanks!

While a snorkel may aid in water crossings, many folks use them in dusty conditions to allow cleaner air to be sucked in. It's not uncommon for folks to flip the head 180 degrees so it is facing rearward.

True. I have also seen snorkels rotated 90 degrees inward to keep mud from getting thrown in by the tires.

My ex wife calls them "Dorkel". She only approved them if I built a custom one for my 80 that runs along the inside of the fender then pops out by the windshield. I did this for my old RRC and it looked nice and was very functional.

Sounds pretty sweet and like a bit of work. Could you post a picture of it? Don't know that I have ever seen one done like that.

Hmmmmm, let me see if I took some pics. That was before the digital camera age! Search for Mantec (i think that is the name) snorkel for LR defenders and you'll get the idea.
