Snorkel Intake Kit

Wanted to install snorkel for a long time due water crossing and a lot of dust/sand driving. Looks like a solution from ARB (SAFARI SNORKEL FOR TOYOTA TACOMA 1995-04 (SS170HF)) is the only option for 3rd gen 4R. I like ARB and so, but the price around $450 seems to be almost insane to me. Is there any less expensive options? I saw Chinese company selling snorkel kit for less than a $100 which is fair price for that kind of equipment, but all of their kits are for Hilux and mounted to the other side of the vehicle. Please share your experience.

Hilux 167 snorkel kits. Theres tons of info here about them. Make sure you double and triple check fitment before drilling the holes. Do a quick search and you can see a step by step.

Thank you very much guys! Should of do search before this post. I'll order one from amazon as well, will see how it works. But the price is definitely affordable.

Hey guys -

This snorkel looks very nice and I am thinking of ordering as well.

Does anyone know what happens to the MAF sensor? considering the airbox gets removed..

Thanks

The air box should not be getting removed. The snorkel extends the air tube in the wheel well to above the cab. The install should not touch anything under the hood.

Anyone have any experience in ordering an actual Safari Snorkel for a 167 Hilux? In Australia they run about $175 before any taxes or shipping, which isn't bad at all. Wonder how I could get it here, I didn't see any on eBay.

Look again, they're on ebay & amazon.

Where do you see them for $175? Are they legit ARB Safari Snorkels? You would need to make sure you get one for the correct fender since it looks like most of theirs go on the other side.

That's what I thought. Australia actually has driver on the right side, not sure how it looks under the hood, but while doing research I saw some right handed cars have snorkel on the left side of the vehicle, in opposite ours - driver from the left and snorkel on the right.

And actually Safari is not $170, but rather about $375 (check second link)

The correct model number for the 3.4L snorkel on the Hilux 167 is SS136R.

On this website it lists it as $228 in Australia without tax. Convert the Australian dollar to the US dollar is $173.59.

It let me add it to the cart and change the country to USA, and then it let me put in my state as Alabama. I didn't try to go any further, but maybe you can purchase from them and have them do international shipping?
