I decided to try something that worked out great for my Xterra years ago. The caps came out good but the 1st wheel looks loke poo. I am not sure if its because the heat index is 106, I am painting them in the garage, or if because I had sweat running off of me I pver sprayed. I will try to peal off the bad areas and re apply. I figured since I am lifting it I would like to get 285's or maybe larger tires these will be used until I can beat all the people and order SCS wheels.

Did you do all the prep work? Sanding and degreasing? What brand paint? Is it humid? Ton's of factors could cause peeling and poor adhesion.

Yes, I did all that and it is really humid here. temps are in the high 90's and the heat index is almost 110. calling for rain all weekend so we will see. I finished the 2nd wheel and it is a ton better, I pealed it off the whole wheel and just started spraying it. Wait I didnt sand. but everything is sticking fine. Since the wheels are brand new I didn't want to use the scruff pad and destroy them since I plan on selling them once I get the SCS wheels..

Paint won't stick if you don't sand. If you plan on selling your wheels you should use plasti dip. There is a good chance spray paint will **** up the clearcoat on the wheels.

No shortcuts with paint. Sand, acetone, tac cloth, then building fine layers. Otherwise it's going to peel up and flake no matter how perfect the conditions are. It may look good for the moment but the moment you start driving on the wheels the tires are going to flake all the paint around the lip of the rim. Followed by everything else.

Did you do any prep work before plasti dip? You should wash and dry the rims. Also make sure the first layer is very light and allow for enough time to ok dry in between.

Yes, cleaned and dried the wheels. I took my time after the 1st wheel, and only got 2 done yesterday and I have started to get the passenger side off today but its 8am and its colse to 100 degrees already. so slow and steady.

From my years of using Plasti Dip on wheels, emblems, etc... it could have been that you didnt spray the coats light enough. For best coverage, several light coats will last a lot longer and look the best.

I also see that a lot of people in the T4R community HATE plastidip.... not sure if its coming from the fact that several people mess it up and having it look like shit but Ive seen entire cars Plasti dipped and you couldnt tell it was vinyl wrapped.

Its all about prep work.

Yeah I started yesterday afternoon and it was already 100 and when I start spraying it was close to 106 and I was in the garage with a fan I peeled it all off and re coated it it about 4-7 coats per wheel. I started this morning around 7 and it was only 100 degrees. I just finished the 1st coat and its 102 with the heat index. I hope to finish the passenger side today and get them back on. if not I can wait until tomorrow.

Just finished the passenger side today, I started at 7am and they are back on the 4Runner at 5pm. I did a coat pretty much every hour so time for it to cure outside. I justr need to take a pic with the center caps on.
