Some good mechanics tool sets?

For what is worth. I do not have a single harbor freight tool except a 20 ton press.

I have a Chinese AK 47 which hands down better then american made AK 47 available.

Now as for everything else. I would stay away- Scopes, lasers, holsters, shotguns.

Just from my experiences. I would trust anything that was engineered outside of china and made there such as Iphones and TVs.


I have a friend is a engineer for Michelin tire in Thailand and she came over to the states to see how Michelin in Greenville South Carolina and can produce tire molds so much quicker. The gave her a week to figure it out. She figured it out in the first day. The tolerance here are 100 times looser then the specs in Thailand.

Short story, by foreign made Michelin tires if you want a truer and better made tire.

I have never paid full price for a Snap On tool and don't plan to, but have a bunch of them.

I work with manufacturers in China, Japan, Mexico, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Europe, all over the place, and yes there is a difference. That's not say that the Chinese are physically incapable of making quality parts, but you tour equivalent plants in Japan and China, and you will see a couple major differences:

1. The Japanese quality culture permeates down to the every operator working on the line. The Chinese culture of cheap (product is cheap, and people are cheap) also permeates down to every operator on the line.

2. Raw materials are better. This is very important for tools.

It is not needed to spend snap on prices for quality tools, you just need to shop smart, and buy quality brands, I own a lot of NWS tools, they are not cheap, but still less then snappy, and the quality is far beyond.

For my screwdrivers i have P B Swiss, the best drivers ever made, yes they fit fasteners better, again, i did not pay snap on prices, got them all on amazon back in the day for cheap.

American made mechanics tools that are worth owning, proto, sk, armstrong, wright, williams, vintage craftsman, cornwell and matco. Mac has gone down the tubes and snappy is is just straight out ridiculous.

USA, german, japanese tools are of high quality, you get what you pay for, except with snap on, you just take it in the a$$
Knipex is good quality, Channellock is still good quality and made in the USA. Wilde tools are great, again, a small tool co. that mostly rebadges there tools for others. Yes i have a tool addiction, and have owned just about everything under the sun, then formed my opinions on what i want to spend and what quality. There is not a single china product in my rollaway, all USA, German and just a touch of japanese Nepros.

Buy what you want and can afford, just make note that there is a huge quality difference in western and european tools compared to anything fro China and India, hell, Taiwan makes better stuff ten China. carry on.
